How are our world’s forests doing? Commented [GH2]: Should be “Annotated
Bibliography”
Walker, Linda K, and Kerry Cesareo. “Deforestation.” WWF, World Wildlife Fund,

www.worldwildlife.org/threats/deforestation.

This source gives and overview of deforestation and why it is a problem for forests and

our environment as a whole. This source helps the reader realize the substantial amount

of damage deforestation does annually with number-based facts (equivalent to 27 soccer

fields a minute). It lists multiple causes, and the reasons for said causes (illegal logging,

fires). It gives multiple examples of why deforestation is bad such as speeding up climate

change, causing habitat loss and ultimately loss of some species. The purpose of this

source is to spread awareness of deforestation and how detrimental it is to our

environment. Commented [GH3]: We didn’t have to do a summary

paragraph. That’s for 1104.
This source helped me realize just how big of a problem deforestation is. The part where

the equivalent of 27 soccer fields is being cut down every minute really stuck out to me.

It is surreal that that many trees are being cut down every minute. 18.7 million acres of

forests are cut down every year, and many of them are not re-planted properly, or even at

all. This source is relevant to my inquiry project because I am researching the state of our

world’s forests, and since deforestation is one of the biggest problems that our forests

face, it must be included in this project.

This source is credible because it is written by two women who graduated from Yale. The Commented [GH4]: Add their names. It’s assumed
they are the two women you talk about next, but just
making sure.
president of the WWF’s (World Wildlife Foundation) Global Forest & Trade Network,

Linda Walker, has a BA in Geography from Bucknell and a Master’s degree in Forestry

from Yale. The vice president, Kerry Cesario, has a BS degree in Biology from UNC

Chapel Hill, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Yale as well.

These women have also studied the pulp and paper industry in Indonesia, and worked

alongside a logging company in Vancouver, Canada. Both of these women have been in

this field for over a decade and are most definitely qualified to be writing on the subject.

Peer Review:

MLA: Your formatting looks really great! Other than the commas in the date yours looks stellar.

Relevance: You are very thorough with your response. I personally cannot see anything wrong

with that paragraph.

Credibility: I appreciate how you added where they got the degrees! I would maybe add if the

source is peer reviewed and if so, who peer reviewed it. Looks good overall!
