Teaching Experience

Practicum #2, 2018 - St. Patrick’s Elementary School, Grade 1. My final practicum was
10 weeks long. During this time I taught 100% of the classes for the majority of the time
I was there. I was responsible for developing lesson plans and for the instruction of a
variety of courses. These included Language Arts, Math, Science, Physical Education,
Art, and Religion. This experience also provided me the opportunity to collaborate with
fellow staff members, education students, and other staff members from other schools.
The extended practicum that I took part in provided me more time to develop
relationships with my students. It gave me more insight into the teaching profession.

Practicum #1, 2016 – Notre Dame Academy, Grade 6. In my third year practicum I
taught up to 50% of the lessons. My main responsibility was teaching Science, Physical
Education, Social, and Art. This practicum had me working with 5 different teachers.
Each had their own way of instructing classes and this gave me the opportunity to see a
number of different teaching styles. It also allowed me to have more experience with
collaboration. I was able to make many connections with the students during this
practicum experience.

EDTS 371 Language and Literacy, 2015, Roy Wilson Learning Centre, Grade 2 - This was
an observation practicum at Roy Wilson Learning Center with a grade 2 class that gave
me the opportunity to see the different teaching methods and learning styles of
language and literacy at the school.

EDTS 234 2014, River Heights School in Grade 6 - I had the opportunity to observe the
different teaching styles, and how the students learned in a different setting.

EDTS 232, 2013, George Davidson School, Grade 1 & 2 - This observation practicum was
with a Grade 1/2 split class. I had the opportunity to watch how a split class works and
how the students and teacher interact.
