Laval Packinox performance.
Paraffin dehydrogenation is a process which typically demands low pressure drop, efficient treatment of two-phase • Furthermore, the space between the plates of Alfa Laval fluids and resistance to the hazard of catalyst fines. Packinox exchangers in this application is generally about 5 mm, allowing problem-free passage of catalyst fines. These three challenges are effectively met by Alfa Laval Packinox heat exchangers.
• Alfa Laval Packinox offers very low pressure drop.
• Uniform flow and distribution of two-phase fluids within the
plate bundle is ensured by patented Alfa Laval Packinox spray bars, while poor entrainment and distribution associ- ated with low pressure drop and heavier hydrocarbons con- tinues to be a problem for shell-&-tube exchangers. Tubulars would need a substantial overdesign to match Alfa 273607_PCT00076EN:251765_packinox_paraffin_dehydro_PPM00115 14/05/07 14:01 Side 2
Alfa Laval Packinox Standard Combined Feed/Effluent Heat
Exchangers began service in paraffin dehydrogenation units in the mid-1990s. They currently operate in paraffin dehydro- genation units demanding duty between 15 MW and 65 MW, in dimensions including lengths ranging from 10m to 15m, diameters between 2m and 3m, and total weight of 30 to 85 tons.
