I hope to discover what UTEP is doing about climate change. I want to learn if there are
special programs being run or specific funding set aside for climate change. I want to zoom in on
the business college and see if they are taking any measures to address climate change, and if
not, why not. I plan to get there by drafting research questions to help me break down my goal
into specific parts that need answering. I will research scholarly articles and academic texts
related to climate change and UTEP. I will evaluate them and see if they provide information that
helps me answer my research questions. I will then synthesis the sources that provide an answer
for one or more of my research questions into a paper that answers those questions and uses the

www.jstor.org.lib.utep.edu/stable/27801374
The authors argue that business organizations can have ethical obligations concerning
global climate change (GCC). With climate change on the continuous rise and business
organizations being the biggest contributors to the problem, do they have an ethical
obligation to fix it. Aside from government laws that require businesses to take certain
steps, businesses should also take further steps to prevent and clean up GCC. Since they
destroy the environment to make profit, a portion of that profit should be used to fix and

The author argues that the main area in which businesses respond to climate change is to
attempt to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change is more than just greenhouse
gas emissions, but is defined as an emission problem internationally. Businesses are only
focusing on the emission problem they produce and none of the others, because of how
governments view climate change. Businesses often have different affects to climate
change, based on region and business type. Despite this local and international
Pinkse, J., & Kolk, A. (2012). Multinational enterprises and climate change: Exploring
The authors argue that climate change and its institutional failures affect multinational
enterprises (MNE) by crating institutional voids and liabilities. While climate change is
recognized as a problem around the globe, every government has its own way of
addressing it. This means businesses hoping to become multinational have to meet
different standards for the different places they are hoping to expand too. With
governments having different requirements for businesses to meet in regards to how they
affect climate change its hard for businesses hoping to branch out to meet all the
requirements. Meaning organizations are less likely to branch out internationally do to the
Schneider, T. (2014). Responsibility for private sector adaptation to climate change. Ecology and
The author argues that it is up to the private sector to adapt themselves to climate change
before they start business. With climate change affecting the weather and changing the
previous climate of places, businesses must prepare themselves for the changes. As the
climate changes it affects a lot of businesses causing them to shut down or slow down
production for a while. This causes setbacks not only for the businesses, but the people
and governments who depend on the work they provide. It’s up to the businesses to

The author argues that climate change is a major issue in business and economics, and
change now being a big part of business, since customers want products that are made or
are eco-friendly, businesses need to head in that direction, starting with the new people
about to enter the business world. Most colleges address the issue of climate change
through elective courses, while other business schools argue it is not necessary to have a

The authors argue that with climate change being an international threat, an international
set of laws must be implemented to fight it. With climate change getting worse around the
world it’s hard to clear it up since rules and regulations differ between countries. The
different laws regarding climate change make it hard to affectively clean areas that cover
space in two different countries. If there was an international law it would make it easy to
Yacobucci, B. D., & Parker, L. (2011). Climate Change: Federal Laws and Policies Related to
Programs and Policies (pp. 1-27). New York, NY: Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
The author argues that the federal government should regulate businesses’ carbon
emissions and pass laws to enforce the regulations. Carbon emissions are increasing
around the world since companies are going unchecked in the amount they produce. If
the local federal governments were to get involved and pass laws that dictate the amount
of carbon emissions a company can produce, then the levels will start to clean out.
Especially in highly industrial third world countries where businesses tend to have free
