ABSTRAK
Di Indonesia prevalensi kecemasan diperkirakan 9%-21% populasi umum,
sedangkan angka populasi pasien preoperasi yang mengalami kecemasan sebesar
Rumah Sakit Umum Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Provinsi Lampung tahun 2017.
Desain penelitian menggunakan rancangan penelitian pra-eksperimen dengan
one group pretest and post test design.
Rumah Sakit Umum Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Provinsi Lampung tahun 2017.
kecemasan pasien preoperasi.

ABSTRACT

Surgery is a medical treatment by using invasive method to open the body

part to have such procedure. Surgery can cause physiological and psychological
responses in form of anxiety produced by emotional reaction, and this can be
found in the surgery patients. In Indonesia, the prevalence of anxiety was
estimated to be 9% to 21% of common population, while the pre-surgery patient’s
anxiety prevalence was 80%. Anxiety management can be conducted by giving
humor therapy, because it can stimulate hypothalamus to release endorphin
serving as pain killer and providing comfort feeling. The objective of this research
was to find out the differences of pre-surgery patient’s anxiety before and after
humor therapy treatment in Mawar and Kutilang wards in Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek
public hospital in Lampung province in 2017.
This was a pre-experiment research by using one group pretest and
posttest design. Population was 349 elective surgery patients in Mawar and
Kutilang wards during July to December. 30 respondent samples were taken by
using purposive sampling. This research was conducted from 5 April to May
2017. Data were collected by using questionnaires and analyzed by using
univariate and bivariate analyses with Wilcoxon sign test.
The results showed that the anxiety categories of the surgery patients
before and after humor therapy were in moderate and mild categories respectively.
Bivariate analysis derived p-value = 0.000 < α (0.05), and the conclusion was that
there was a significant difference in the pre-surgery patient’s anxiety before and
after humor therapy in Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek public hospital in Lampung
province in 2017. The researcher expects that the humor therapy can be used as
one of nursing programs as a relaxation technique to help reducing pre-surgery
patient’s anxiety.
