Narrative Essay Assignment 

At this point, you have read multiple stories and poems about speakers facing difficulties and being
resilient. Each of these speakers had something unique about themselves that caused others to view
them differently.

Task
In this essay, you will select something unique or different about yourself. Possible topics include:
● Your race
● Your heritage
● Your appearance (Ex. being tall/ short, having glasses, very curly hair etc.)
● Your interests (Ex. having a unique hobby like unicycling)
● Your personality (Ex. being “nerdy”)
● Your weird favorite foods (Ex. ghost pepper hot sauce, pickle juice etc.)
● Your being new to this country (learning English)
You will explore this difference and its impact on your life. Your essay will be structured as follows:
Paragraph 1: ​Introduction and description of topic? How did this topic impact you when you were
younger?
Paragraph 2: ​How have you come to terms or acceptance with this difference? How can it be a strength?

Additional Elements
In addition to the topic and structure listed above and in this packet, your essay must also include:
