The IPM 7.5 software is supported on Windows 2000, XP (32 bit) and Vista (32 bit).
Installation from CD
The CD you have been supplied with holds copies of all six of Petroleum Experts
products. To begin the installation, insert the CD into the drive. Please
ensure that no other programs are running in the background before commencing
installation. This applies especially to anti-virus programs and e-mail systems.
Please ensure that you are logged on as administrator or have full administrator
privileges.
* When you insert the CD wait a few moments and the installation program should
start automatically.
* If the installation program fails to start automatically, then from the Start
menu, choose Run and type D:\PXInstallMenu.exe.
* The main installation screen will detect if you have an existing build of IPM
7 installed. Please follow the instructions on the installation screen to
remove any older build and install the build from the CD.
* If you are installing IPM 7.5 for the first time, we would advise that you run
the license configuration wizard from the installation screen. Alternatively
(and if you are using a standalone bitlock) please refer to the instructions in
the next page about installing key drivers and then install the drivers before
running the applications.
* The main installation screen will also detect if you have suitable version of
Acrobat Reader installed that can be used to read the on-line manuals. If not,
please click the Install Acrobat Reader button. This will direct you to the Adobe
web site where you may download the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
have, please look at the bitlock. The type should be written somewhere on the

* The drivers are installed in a subdirectory of the directory you selected during
the setup procedure called KEYDRV.
* Please ensure that you have administrator privileges.

wizard,
remove any older versions of the drivers. Then reboot your PC.

You are now ready to run the applications via the Start menu.
Before RESOLVE can be used, it should be configured to use on your system. RESOLVE
will need to have registered the GAP and REVEAL drivers, and these drivers will
need
to be set up with the current location of the GAP and REVEAL executables.
When RESOLVE is started for the first time after installation, a screen will appear
asking if you would like to register drivers for the application. Select the
drivers
that you wish to register from the list. You should then configure the drivers: to
do this, click on the button labelled 'Configure drivers now'. RESOLVE will then
present the configuration screens of each driver in turn. Where asked, enter (or
browse to) the directories in which the program executables are located.
If you would like to change the settings after starting RESOLVE, then all this
functionality can be accessed from the Options | Register menu item in RESOLVE.
You should also ensure that you are running the most recent version of PXSERVER
(i.e. the version that was shipped with RESOLVE). You can check this by right
clicking
on a GAP or REVEAL icon in RESOLVE and selecting 'Test PxServer'. If you are
running
an older version then you can register the more recent version by running the
correct
pxserver.exe from Explorer, and immediately exiting the resulting screen.
If you are running client cases of Petex applications for RESOLVE on remote
machines,
then the client machines must be configured to allow RESOLVE to launch the
applications.
To do this:
* Log on as administrator on the client machine.
* Run DCOMCNFG on the client machine (click on the 'Start' menu and select 'Run',
and
type in DCOMCNFG in the box that is presented).
* Depending on the operating system, you must find the 'pxserv32 Document' object
in
the DCOM configuration list. Under Windows XP this is location under
Component Services | My Computer | DCOM Config. Under NT or 2000 the list is
presented
directly.
* Bring up the 'Properties' dialog for pxserver. In this screen, you must give
access
and launch permissions to the user who is running RESOLVE on the master machine.
It
is also generally a good idea to set the 'identity' to the 'interactive user' for
debugging purposes.
* You may then log on under the correct user name.
