Q. If I live outside of Cook County, can I still apply

for Home Weatherization?
A. Yes. Call Keep Warm Illinois at 800-252-
8643 for the Community Action Agency in
your county.

Q. Can I select which energy saving measures I

want?
A. No. Energy audits commonly known as an
assessment, will be conducted on the home,
by a CEDA Weatherization assessor. The
weatherization measures that will save the
most energy are calculated electronically.

Q. Are the contractors who work on my home

insured?
A. Yes. All crews are experienced, insured and
bonded.

HOME WEATHERIZATION
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
HELPING PEOPLE. CHANGING LIVES.
The Illinois Home Weatherization Program,
administered by CEDA, has helped thousands
of Cook County income-eligible residents save
energy and money.
Although most houses waste energy, different
types of houses and apartments have different
energy issues. They all lose heat.
Home Weatherization is always performed free
of charge for approved homeowners. Approved
rental properties require a 50% contribution for
any work related to the heating system.

WEATHERIZATION SERVICES
Depending on the circumstance and condition of the
dwelling, weatherization services may include:
▪▪ Health and Safety items such as limited moisture
control, smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide
detectors.
▪▪ Air-sealing structural cracks, holes, and bypasses
with weatherstripping, foam and caulking;
▪▪ Insulating attics, walls, and floors;
▪▪ Cleaning, tuning, repairing or replacing heating
