2 What is the common name of Quick Lime?
The earth has been divided into 360 degrees of imaginary longitudinal lines. Now,
these 360 degrees divided by the 24 hour day, results in 4 minutes per longitude. Thus,
if you move from one longitude to the next the difference will be of 4 minutes.
360 degree = 24 hours, so 1 hr = 15 degrees, 1 degree = 4 minutes.

6 On moving from left to right in a periodic table what remain constant?
– Number of Shells
This is because in a period electrons are added in the shells but the number of shells
remain constant. Metals have a tendency to lose electrons. Thus when electrons are
added the size of atoms decreases due to increased nuclear pull and it becomes
difficult for the elements to lose electrons.
So as we move from left to right in a period in the periodic table the metallic character
goes on decreasing!
– Ligament
Ligaments are similar to tendons and fasciae as they are all made of connective tissue.
The differences in them are in the connections that they make: ligaments connect one
bone to another bone, tendons connect muscle to bone, and fasciae connect muscles
to other muscles.
9 Tartaric Acid is not present in which of the following.
Tartaric acid is a naturally occurring acid found in many fruits such as grapes, bananas,
and tamarinds. It is an important component in wine-making and accounts for the
acidic taste detected on the tongue in both fresh grapes and dry wine.
10 Unit of Relative density
– Unitless

15 What causes splitting of light when passed through a prism
– Difference in wavelength
A light ray is refracted (bent) when it passes from one medium to another at an angle
and its speed changes. At the interface, it is bent in one direction if the material it
enters is denser (when light slows down) and in the OTHER direction if the material is
less dense (when light speeds up). Because different wavelengths (colors) of light
travel through a medium at different speeds, the amount of bending is different for
different wavelengths. Violet is bent the most and red the least because violet light has
a shorter wavelength, and short wavelengths travel more slowly through a medium
than longer ones do. Because white light is made up of ALL visible wavelengths, its
colors can be separated (dispersed) by this difference in behavior.
16 What is the common name of Sodium bicarbonate?
– Baking Soda
Sodium bicarbonate is a chemical compound with the formula NaHCO₃. It is a salt
composed of sodium ions and bicarbonate ions. Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid
that is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder.
Epidermal Cells
Epidermis, in botany, outermost, protoderm-derived layer of cells covering the stem,

tape by a stylus which was operated by an electromagnet.
20 Who is the Father of Medicine? –
Hippocrates
Hippocrates was born around 460 BC on the island of Kos, Greece. He became known
as the founder of medicine and was regarded as the greatest physician of his time. He
based his medical practice on observations and on the study of the human body. He
held the belief that illness had a physical and a rational explanation.

Skin
During hibernation, the frog respires through. During hibernation, cutaneous
respiration occurs in the frog, i.e. it respires through its moist skin or integument. The
skin is permeable to respiratory gases and carries oxygen to the body cells for
respiration
22 Urine gets stored in

Hydrochoric Acid
Hydrochloric acid is a corrosive, strong mineral acid with many industrial uses. A
colorless, highly pungent solution of hydrogen chloride (HCl) in water, when it reacts
with an organic base it forms a hydrochloride salt.
Hydrochloric acid was historically called acidum salis, muriatic acid, and spirits of
salt because it was produced from rock salt and green vitriol
– Sulphuric Acid
Sulfuric acid (alternative spelling sulphuric acid) is a highly corrosive strong mineral
acid with the molecular formula H2SO4 and molecular weight 98.079 g/mol. It is a
pungent-ethereal, colorless to slightly yellow viscous liquid that is soluble in water at all
concentrations. Sometimes, it is dyed dark brown during production to alert people to
its hazards. The historical name of this acid is oil of vitriol

Binary Digit
A bit (short for binary digit) is the smallest unit of data in a computer. A bit has a
single binary value, either 0 or 1. Although computers usually provide instructions that
can test and manipulate bits, they generally are designed to store data and execute
instructions in bit multiples called bytes.

Fibrinogen
Fibrinogen and fibrin
Fibrinogen, the protein of the blood plasma, is converted into the insoluble
protein fibrin during the clotting process. The fibrinogen-free fluid obtained after
removal of the clot, called blood serum, is blood plasma minus fibrinogen. The
fibrinogen content of the blood plasma is 0.2 to 0.4 percent.

Root
Root chicory (Cichorium intybus var. sativum) has been cultivated in Europe as a coffee
substitute. The roots are baked, roasted, ground, and used as an additive, especially in
the Mediterranean region (where the plant is native). As a coffee additive, it is also
mixed in Indian filter coffee, and in parts of Southeast Asia, South Africa, and southern
United States, particularly in New Orleans. It has been more widely used during
economic crises such as the Great Depression in the 1930s and during World War II in
Continental Europe. Chicory, with sugar beet and rye, was used as an ingredient of
the East German Mischkaffee (mixed coffee), introduced during the "East German
coffee crisis" of 1976-79.
52 What is the Unit of Energy in food? –

60 Deoxygenated blood is carried to lungs by –
Pulmonary Arteries
The left side of the heart pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs, through the aorta to
the body tissues (excluding the lungs). Deoxygenated blood returns from the body
tissues to the right side of the heart, via the vena cava. It is then pumped to the lungs,
via the pulmonary artery where it is oxygenated.

69 An animal cell is Permeable or Semi permeable –
Semi Permeable
A cell wall provides structure for plant and bacterial cells, is most definitely semi-
permeable in plants, allowing small molecules and proteins to pass through based on
size, anything under about 30 Kilodaltons. Then the membrane manages the actual
transfer of materials to the interior of the cell. However, the cell wall provides low-level
nutrients like water and carbon dioxide to flow directly into the cell, and excretion of
low-level substances like oxygen to leave the cell. For a plant cell there is a cell
