Dear Fellow Committee Member:

As many of you know, our friend John A. DeFrancisco announced recently he would not be
seeking another term to the State Senate seat he has held since 1993.

We will all miss his voice and leadership in Albany, and I will personally miss the work he and
I have done together as partners in state and local government. But, now is not the time for
reflection, because the stakes of the election that will take place this November couldn’t be
higher.

If the New York City politicians take over the Senate, they will control our entire state
government. The Executive Chamber, the Assembly, and the State Senate. All of it.

Under that nightmare scenario, our schools, our roads, our local governments, and our not-
for-profits will get nothing. New York City will win and Central New York will lose. We can not
allow that to happen.

Therefore, I have been encouraged by Members of the Senate and many of you to run for
this seat to ensure our Central New York communities continue to be strongly and proudly
represented at the State Capitol.

I want you to be among the first to know that I have humbly accepted this offer and have
decided to run for this important Senate seat in November.

Having said that, I need your help!

I believe I am the most qualified person to run for this seat and that I possess the skills needed
to be a very strong candidate for our Party.

As your County Comptroller, I have the experience necessary to review and understand the
massive state budget, and can hit the ground running on Day 1.

I have been elected and reelected to countywide office, and have proven I have what it takes
to win and serve in public office.

My campaign account already has more than $115,000, and we have recently scheduled
additional fundraisers to ensure we have the resources necessary to aggressively beat back the
outside groups on the far left who are certain to take an interest in this race.
I enjoy a strong personal relationship with local and statewide Conservative and Independence
Party leaders whose endorsements will be key to retaining this seat.

On top of all that, I have been a loyal GOP committee member and town chairman who has
carried petitions and worked with all of you to elect Republicans to countless offices throughout
local, state and federal government.

Now, I need your support to officially become the Party’s nominee so I can take the fight to
Governor Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the radical politicians who want to
wrestle control of the Senate away from the hardworking families of Syracuse, its suburbs and
all of Central New York.
