 INTRODUCTION
Project ‘Hope’ is designed because of the increase in Pollution
and Population. So, that’s why I am creating settlement
‘Hope’ as a new hope to save the mankind. Other reasons for
the creation of ‘Hope’ is the better level of human life
standard and values. I am planning to accommodate 25,000
to 30,000 lives in our settlement.

INSPIRATION FOR THE NAME “HOPE”

We are keeping the name ‘Hope’ of our settlement because we

have hope that we are going to build a space settlement that
will be transforming that hope into reality to create a space
settlement.

 LOCATION
There are three main orbits where we can settle: - Leo (Low
earth orbit), Meo (Middle earth orbit) and Geo
(Geosynchronous earth orbit). But we are choosing
Geosynchronous earth orbit which is 35,786 kilometers from
the earth surface and 348,614 kilometers from moon’s
surface. We have selected geosynchronous earth orbit
because our settlement ‘Hope’ will always be visible from a
fixed location and will not require a tracker to track our
settlement. We will always be visible from earth because the
geosynchronous earth orbit is also having same rotation
period like earth. Even we are placing it over here because
this orbit is not crowded and it is stable and one more good
advantage of this orbit is that on March 23rd 2061 an
asteroid will be passing by geosynchronous orbit which is
having high amount of mineral in it we will be mining that
asteroid and extracting all the mineral from it and after this
we will use it in our settlement.

 GRAVITATION
Gravity is the most important thing of our settlement since
there will be no gravity in our settlement. If there is no gravity
in our space settlement then there can occur many serious
problems e.g. children born and raised in our settlement, will
not be able to develop their bones due to lack of calcium and
even he/she will not be able to visit to planet earth because
their muscles will not be strong enough under no gravity
situation. So, we need to create artificial gravity. To generate
artificial gravity, it is necessary to spin the settlement in a
certain velocity with the help of the centripetal and the
centrifugal forces, it will be created in a circle.
We will find out the velocity with the help of the formula,
V = √g*r
For Torus:

Middle cylinder:

R= 150 meters

For creating artificial gravity, the velocity which will be

required for torus = 197.989898732 m/s for middle cylinder
= 38.3405790253 m/s and for spokes = 22.1359436211 m/s.

 THRUSTERS
In our settlement we are using thrusters because this will help
us to generate gravity because thrusters give velocity to an
object and we need velocity for gravity, so the velocity which
we require to generate gravity will be done with help of
thrusters.

 Step 1: Firstly, we will have to construct the middle
cylinder.

In our settlement we will be having six tori and in different
torus there will be different activities.

As I have shown in the above diagram, that in our settlement

we will be having many types of tori. In different tori there
will be different kinds of work implemented.
Now I will classify the work of different torus: -
Headquarter of the settlement: - In the headquarter of the
settlement, we will have the execution of the main work of
the settlement like government and administration.
Industries: - In industries torus we will have all different
types of industries like textile industry, automobile industry,
solar panel industry, etc.
Residential torus 1 and 2: - In residential torus 1 and 2, the
resident means a place where the human beings will live.

Over here the human will have their houses, recreational
centers and hospitals.
Agriculture: - In agriculture torus we will have all
agricultural related work like farming and animal
husbandry. Over here we will perform hydroponics,
aeroponics and geoponics practice to get food from it.
Research Centre: - In research centers will have all types of
space research like solar eclipse, asteroid mining, etc.
SPACE DEBRIS
Space junk or space debris is very
dangerous because they can harm
our settlement. If they hit our
settlement then our settlement will
have huge damage and even they can
break the parts of the settlement and this is not the only
thing even while transportation in space, the space shuttle
and the junk can collide and by this, collision will take place
and there will be a massive damage in space shuttle. So, we
will make a trash-blasting laser satellite to clean up space
junk and this will minimize space junk. These Trash blasting
lasers satellite will have lasers in it and the fishing net also,
fishing net is to collect the junk and the lasers will be
breaking down the bigger size junk into small because
bigger junks are dangerous and even collecting the small
junk in the net is easy. We will be placing these satellites

near our settlement. These satellites will have lasers to clean
up the junk. Now there is a question that how space has got
junk? These junks are produced from the collision of space
shuttle and satellite when these space shuttle and satellite are
collided after that if some parts of the space shuttle or
satellite break and get into pieces then those pieces are
settled in space and like these many incidents happened of
collision and explosion the biggest one was of China’s
satellite because China has exploded their satellite name
‘Feng Yun 1C’ so by this there were many junks were
produced because by this the satellite got into many pieces.

 INTERNAL TRANSPORTATION
Solar car: - In our settlement, we will operate cars with solar
energy because these cars are pollution free, they will not
require petroleum as they will only require solar energy
because the main source of fuel is solar energy in our
settlement. These solar cars will have solar panels in it and
they will be absorbing that solar energy so by this the cars
will run.

Trams: - In our settlement, we will use trams as a public

transport. These trams will have three compartments in it.
These trams will be running with the help of the magnet, they
will not work with help of solar energy because trams are
heavy and solar energy will not be able to run them.

A moving walkway: - A moving walkway is used for short
distance, places like Airports, Malls, Bazaars, etc. So, we will
use moving walkway for short distance travel in our
settlement. We can increase the speed of moving walkway for
reaching destinations faster, these are operated by solar
energy and even they are pollution free.

Buses: - In our settlement, we will be using electrical buses

because a bus can carry 30 – 40 people in a ride so this will
reduce traffic as there will be fewer cars travelling on the

road which will lead to save time and this will save solar
energy too.

Pod Taxi: - In our settlement, we will be using pod taxis

because these taxis are driverless and they will run in the air
with the help of cable and also with the help of solar energy.
Pod taxis will be a public transport in our settlement. These
taxis will have different stations around the settlement and
these taxis will only be used in the residential torus.

 OXYGEN
As we know, we need oxygen for survival of human beings,
but this is not only for survival of human beings but also it is
used for more things like cancer treatment, for rocket fuel
and for killing bacteria. So, we need oxygen in our
settlement, so we have three ways to generate oxygen in our
settlement.
The three ways to generate oxygen are: -
1) The first method to generate oxygen is by heating. By
heating we can generate it. This can be done by mixing
potassium chlorate and manganese di oxide on the ratio
of 4:1. The chemical equation to generate oxygen is.

Chemical Equation: -

2) The second way to generate oxygen is without heat.
Without heat we can generate it. This is done when
sodium oxide reacts with water at an ordinary
temperature. The chemical equation to generate oxygen

3) The third way to generate oxygen is to get oxygen from
Martian base and lunar base. In Martian atmosphere
there is oxygen but in a very less amount, so we will be
just bringing 1 percent of oxygen from the Martian
atmosphere. In lunar base oxygen is available but not in
gaseous form, it is available inside the rocks so from
there we will be extracting the oxygen and bringing it to
our settlement ‘Hope’.

 WATER

Water is very important thing for survival because without

this an individual will not be able to live so we will be
generating water by oxygen and hydrogen and we will have
oxygen in our settlement but we will not have hydrogen in
our settlement so, first we will generate hydrogen and after
the generation of hydrogen we will generate water. There is a
chemical reaction to generate water from these two gases.
The chemical equation to generate water from oxygen and
hydrogen: -

“2H2 + O2 2H2O ”
There is one more method from which water can be produced
are: -
1. Lunar base: - We can get water from the lunar base by
the mining of the surface and the water will be produced
and then it will be transported to our settlement ‘Hope’.

 Martian base: - In mars water is present in the form of
ice. That will be sent in our settlement hope from mars
and then we will melt the ice and then use it in our
settlement as water.

TRANSPORTATION OF OXYGEN AND WATER

Transportation of oxygen and water will be done by the space
shuttle.
Water transportation: - Water will be transported by water
container. Water container will be transporting water from
the space shuttle.

Oxygen transportation: - Oxygen will be transported by gas
cylinder and we will be collecting the oxygen in gas cylinder
and then transporting to our settlement ‘Hope’.
Moon: - The distance in kilometers from hope to moon and
earth to moon is shown below:
Kilometers: - Earth to Moon = 384,400 km Hope to Moon =
384,400 km - 35,786 km = 348,614 This calculation was Earth
to moon distance – The distance of earth to hope.
Duration: - From Earth it usually takes 2.5 – 3 days to reach
moon so from hope it will take about to 2.2 – 2.9 days to reach
moon and the most important thing is to collect water and
oxygen so this process will approxtimatly take 80 – 100 days
and then it will return to hope. Oxygen and water will take
90-100 days to reach hope.
Mars: - Now I will show that how much kilometers is there
from earth to moon, and hope to earth. This is shown below:
Kilometers: - From earth to mars, the shortest distance is
54,600,000 so we will be launching the space craft when it will
be to the shortest distance from earth. The distance from
Hope = 54,600,000 - 35,786 kilometers = 54,564,214.
Duration: - From earth it takes 300 days to get into mars when
it is from shortest point and the shortest point comes in every
2 years so we will sending the space shuttle from earth to mars
which will take 300 days to reach and then to reach hope from

mars will take approximately 298 days. This process will take
about to 2.6 years to reach our settlement. Because 1 year will
be required to collect water and oxygen. Then after collecting
and finding water and oxygen we will wait for 3 months to
launch space shuttle that is because 2 years will be finished
and it will come to shortest distance from hope.

ELECTRICITY
As electricity is very important aspect, by electricity we can
run electronic devices for example to charge mobile, run T.V,
run fan, etc. We are even using electricity as a main source of
fuel. It is used as main source of fuel because in settlement
‘hope’ stove, cars, etc. will be run by electricity that’s why it
is used as a main source of fuel.
There are three ways to produce electricity. Two ways will
be for emergency time means alternative source for
electricity and one will be the main source for electricity.
The ways from which we can produce electricity in our
settlement ‘Hope’.

Solar energy: - In our settlement we are using solar energy

to generate electricity. We are using solar energy to generate
electricity is because in space there is high amount of

sunlight and to generate electricity from solar energy we
need sunlight and we have that in space. In our settlement
we are not using solar energy just for electricity but for
major source of fuel also because in our settlement the
vehicle will run from solar energy and the batteries of the
vehicle will be charged by solar energy.

Human powered bike: - In our settlement we are using

human powered cycle as an alternative source for electricity.
We can get electricity by paddling the bike. In every gym we
will be having human powered bike instead of stationary
bicycle’s because if human will paddle human powered bike
instead of stationary bicycle’ s then we will be able to
produce the electricity and then we will be storing the
electricity for the emergency situation.

Batteries: - We will use batteries for many things. We will
use batteries for electric vehicle because electric vehicle will
need battery and even we will use batteries for emergency
situation like if there will be shortage of electricity for a
while so, for that time we will use batteries. We will be
charging batteries by solar energy.

 AGRICULTURE
As we know without agriculture we will not be able to get
food, oxygen, etc. So, we have some method to grow plants in
our space settlement.
The methods are: -
Hydroponics: - We are using hydroponics agriculture in our
settlement because in hydroponics, we can grow plant without
the soil as soil will not be available in the space. We can
practice hydroponics only with the help of rich nutrient
water, we have to deliver to the roots of the plant.

Aeroponics: - We are using aeroponics agriculture because

we can grow plants in our settlement without the help of soil
we will only be needing mist and air to grow plants from
aeroponics technique.

Geoponics: - We are using geoponics agriculture because it
can be done in normal soil. But soil is not available in space,
so we will be using this method by bringing the soil from
earth.

NOTE: - In our settlement we will use hydroponics and

aeroponics mainly because they are fast growing in
comparison to soil gardening so that is why Geoponics will be
optional in our settlement because for growing plant in

geoponics, it requires soil and that we must transport from
earth. We will be bringing some amount of soil from earth to
our settlement but though we will be using geoponics as
optional way of agriculture to use those soil for other
purposes.

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Animal husbandry is important because animals supply many
types of food item like milk, egg, etc. Animals even produce
wool, cotton, etc. In our settlement, we will mostly be
dependent on animal products. We will be taking cows, hens,
and other animals who produce food. We will be taking them
in our settlement from earth. We will be providing them
grains, grass, and house-made things as their food.

 ARTIFICIAL DAY AND NIGHT
Day and night facility is extremely important because for
human mind set of time in settlement. We will be producing
artificial days and nights by stacked organic LED’s in our
settlement which is ecofriendly lights.

We will be needing different types of materials to construct
our settlement ‘Hope’. We can get materials from different
source. The sources from where we can get materials is
earth, lunar base, Martian base and asteroids. The material

planet earth.

 EMERGENCIES
There are different types of emergency which we can face in
our settlement. The emergency which we can face in our
settlement is: -
Fire: - We can face fire anytime in our settlement. So,
we will always be prepared. In our settlement there will
always be fire brigade prepared for these situations. In
every torus there will be 5 fire brigades.

 Collapse of settlement: - As we know, everywhere there
is a risk in space, so we will always be alert, to be safe
from collapsing of settlement so we will be always
keeping two space craft- one for human and one for
goods. We will be keeping these space craft in our
middle cylinder.

INDUSTRIES
Industries are necessary for the further development of the
settlement. Industries are important because they provide us
new technology and they even play an important role in
economy.

So, in our settlement we will be having many different types
of industries.

Textile industry: - Manufacturing of cloth, yarn, etc., will be

done here. These products are important because this
product is of daily use for human beings.

Automobile industry: - Cars and other automobile materials

will be manufactured here. Even though servicing of the car
will be done here.

Food industry: - These industries will be producing foods in
our settlement, they will be doing food processing like
preparation for fresh product, after this these industries will
be sending these products to market.

Solar panel industry: - As we know we are using solar panels

in our settlement for main source of electricity so for this we
are making a solar panel industry in our settlement because
if any panel gets damaged then it will be repaired over here
and even there will be manufacturing solar panels in our
settlement.

Robotic industry: - Robots will play important role in our
settlement so the manufacturing will be done here, and servicing
and maintenance will also be done here.

RECREATION
Entertainment is a very necessary aspect of a human life,
which one cannot do without as after the whole day hectic
work, individual needs to have some recreation for
relaxation. The several types of recreational centers in our
settlements are: -

Theaters: - Movies are one of the popular entertainment
option for an individual. So, the movies which will be played
in earth, that movie will also be played in our settlement
‘Hope’ with the help of satellite.

Amusement park: - We are making amusement park in our

settlement because to get relief from our daily tension and
enjoy rides with family. We are placing 15 different types of
rides like roller coaster, ferries wheel, bumper car, etc.

Television: - Now-a-days we can’t imagine our life without

television because this is the best medium for
communication, even it is the best medium for
entertainment, encourages education, etc. The video which is

played in earth will also be played in our settlement with the
help of Television Satellite.

Games: - In our settlement there will be indoor and outdoor

games.
In outdoor game there will be games like cricket, football,
basketball, etc. In indoor games there will be games like
chess, table tennis, etc. Playing games are very enjoyable and
even it keeps us fit mentally and physically.

WASTE MANAGEMENT
Animal and human waste: - First, we will be segregating
liquid waste and solid waste.

Liquid Waste: - We can use liquid waste as fertilizer and
after that we will be sending it to the agriculture place.
Solid waste: - We can use solid waste after composting as
fertilizer because this will reduce the use of chemical
fertilizer and it will help to grow plant faster and healthier.

Plastics: - We will be converting plastics to fuels, but this will not

be applicable for non-biodegradable plastics it can only be done for
bio degradable plastics. So, we will only be using Bio degradable
plastics in our settlement.

Papers: - We will be using less paper in our settlement and

we will be mainly doing paper works in digital ways, but we
need papers for few things. So after the use of the paper, we
will be recycling it to new paper.

 COMMUNICATION
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
In our settlement we will be using Long-term Evolution
(LTE) this is wireless and works in 4g speed and even this
will be used as Internet for mobile for purposes like Video
calls, chats, social media, news buzz, etc.
Wireless Internet: - We will be using broadband system in
our settlement which is wireless, and it will work in the
speed of 91 Mbps and it will be done by solar energy.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION
In our settlement we will be using internet for external
communication and we will also be using satellites for
external communication. We will be using Advanced
extremely high frequency satellite which gives us radio
telecommunication for communication.

 ROBOTICS
In our settlement we will use robots because robots have
different applications.
The applications are: -
1) Robots are not like human beings because human
complains about their hectic work but robots don’t
complain they can do work without complain.
2) Robots can perform any task, they can perform
challenging and hazardous tasks.
3) Robots in our settlement will do household work, guard
our houses, repairing another robot, guard our
settlement, etc.
In our settlement we will also use artificial intelligence
because they are having different applications.
The applications are: -
1) The robots with artificial intelligence will also have
artificial common sense to do multiple tasks.
2) These robots with A.I can perform driving cars, they
will assist doctors, can do internal surgery. In internal
surgery they will only do surgery of heart, kidney,
brain, etc. because they will not be able to manipulate
these internal parts easily.

Security robots: - These robots will guard malls, industries,
shop, office, parking area, etc. They will protect these places
from thieves and criminals.

Driving robots: - These robots will drive the cars and also
the flying car. They will be working as a driver in our
settlement.

Personal robots: - These robots will guard the home, do

household work, and play with children’s. These robots will
work on the commands given by the owner.

Police robots: - These robots will guard our settlement.
These robots will have Guns. They will arrest thieves,
terrorist, criminals, etc. and then putting them to jail. They
will not harm people.

Repairing robots: - These robots will repair many things like

cars, flying cars, robots, etc. They will be having all required
tools with them to repair these things. They will be repairing
these thing in repair station.

NOTE: - These robots will work from solar energy all
robots will be fitted with the solar panels in their back.
POPULATION
In our settlement we will be doing census count once in 5
years to know the population of the settlement. In our
settlement there will be rule that one family will have only
one child, by this population will be controlled.

SECURITY SYSTEM
Security system is to protect the data’s and information of
the residents so, every resident in our settlement will have
the following things as their security system.

Password: - Every resident will have to remember their
password to access the data in need.

Finger print: - The finger print of an individual will be taken

after an arrest, property papers, criminals, etc. These things
will help in keeping records of such things of an individual.

Iris scanner: - Iris scanner will be used for bank

information, Voting, etc. Iris scanner will be used for high
information’s and details.

 HOSPITALS & DOCTORS
In our settlement there will be hospitals like earth, all
facility’s will be provided in hospitals with advance
technology and advance machines. In our settlement there
will be highly educated doctors hired from earth and even
students who want to pursue their career as doctors will be
trained and given studies course. For small treatment like
eye test, dental test, X-Ray will be done by robots these
robots will be having regular servicing for safety purpose.

 EDUCATION
In our settlement we will be having advance studies and we
will be using technology for studies. We will not be using
paper instead of paper we will be using Tabs and laptops for
studies. But many parents will say that the children will be
distracted towards games and entertainment while studying
in laptops and tabs, but these laptops and tabs will only have
education software’s and they will be having parental guide
in it and the most important thing that the eyes will be
affected by the screens radiation but we will be using eye
protection glass means children’s have to wear these glasses
while studying or using that laptops and tabs. These tabs
and laptops will be having many educational videos. And
even many qualified teachers will be appointed from earth
and taken and teachers sitting in earth can also teach
student through video calling.

Montessori -Grade 2
The students of Montessori to grade two will be taught
rhymes, recite poem, ABCD, etc. They will even be
physically trained.
Grade 3-Grade 5
The students of grade 3 to grade 6 will start to study science,
math’s, English, social, etc. in a proper manner.
Grade 6-Grade 8
The students of grade 6 to grade 8 will start higher studies
like formulas in physics, chemistry, math’s. And prepare
them for their challenges.
Grade 9- grade 12
Commerce students: - In our settlement the future of
industries, accounts of settlement, financial database of
settlement, etc. will be handled by the people who have
studied commerce.

Science students: - In our settlement the future of electricity,
machine, space shuttle, research of space, etc. will be done
by the people who have studied science.

Arts students: - In our settlement the arts students will be

studying about music, painting, acting, etc. In future these
students will be working in movie and also to entertain
people.

MINING
Mining is very important thing for the development of the

high amount of minerals. We will be mining asteroid’s by

explosion. Then we will be bringing the raw material by
carrier in our settlement then we will be extracting the
minerals after that we will be using these minerals for
different purpose. Now how we will mine these asteroids?
This question will be raised. We will be doing laser mining
for mining asteroids.

CONSTITUTION
In our settlement we will have democracy. We will not be
discriminating people on the ground of religion, caste, creed,
color and race. We will be picking the best constitution from
different countries and applying in our settlement. In our
settlement we will provide single citizenship. So, in our
settlement everyone will be able to enjoy equal status and
opportunity. In our settlement we will be having several
fundamental rights which we will be borrowing the best
fundamental right from different countries.

In our settlement we will be having our own currency. The
currency will be made of paper. The name of the currency
will be Hope. In the front side of the currency we will have
the 7-fundamental right of the settlement, governor’s
signature, and the amount will be written. In the back-side
of the currency there will be the picture of the settlement.
Mainly we will be using digital payment methods because
the currencies are made of paper and we are making our
settlement paper free.

In our settlement research center & science lab will be very
important because in these places only there will research about
space, solar eclipse, asteroid or Metroid mining, etc. will be done

ARTIFICIAL CLOUDS
In our settlement we will be creating earth like atmosphere
and even there will be rain in our settlement and for rain we
will be needing clouds. Clouds can be created artificially by
chemicals, silver iodide, dry ice, potassium iodide are the
chemical which will be seeded and by this artificial rain
cloud will be created.

In our settlement tourist from earth can also visit and
see the life style of the space settlement and can enjoy
the special feature of space settlement even for these
tourists we will have space hotel and tourist place. For
visiting our settlement from earth, the tourist will
require a passport and visa to travel the settlement. By
these tourists we will do income. The travel to our
settlement from earth will be done by CST – 100
Starliner which can carry 7 people at a time and this
aircraft is manufactured by Boeing. We will develop a
company name ‘Beyond earth’ for tourist who want to
travel to our settlement ‘Hope’

3) Tertiary sector
Primary: - Primary sectors are for mining and agriculture.
So, in our settlement there will be different primary sector
like for mining, agriculture, and other natural resource.

Mining: - Mining of asteroid, Metroid’s, moon, and mars
will be done by mining industry which is the part of primary
sector.
Agriculture: - The product which we get from cultivating of
crops and from animal is done by agriculture sector which is
the part of primary sector.
Secondary: - Secondary sectors will be come in use when the
primary sector will be collecting the raw materials by
agriculture and mining and then secondary sectors will be
finishing the product.
Tertiary: - When secondary sectors will be done with
finishing of the product then the tertiary sector will come in
use for making the product to reach the consumer by selling
them in markets, whole seller, and distributer.
Taxes
All the citizen of the settlement ‘Hope’ will have to pay two
types of tax which is Income tax and Municipal tax. The
citizens of the settlement will have to pay tax because for
providing essential day to day requirements.
Income tax: - The amount of money a citizen earned in our
settlement in a year will be paying certain percentage of his
or her income to the government for the further
development of the settlement.

Municipal tax: - In this tax a person who will own a house,
to get water supply, to get electricity and etc. will be giving a
certain tax to government for getting these facilities. Now
second thing while owning a home a person will be giving a
certain amount of tax to government.
External Transportation
External transportation is very important because in the
initial phase we will be needing many materials from
different sources and not this thing only, Human
transportation from earth to ‘hope’ and even we are
planning for space tourism and these all things will be done
by space flight.
The spacecraft which we will be using is below: -
SpaceX Dragon: - We will be using SpaceX Dragon as space
cargo for transporting goods. SpaceX Dragon is being used
for ISS logits.
