HK03 FINAL YEAR PROJECT

KC01102 PROJEK PENYELIDIKAN I/ KC01204 PROJEK PENYELIDIKAN II

(Based on CQI workshop on 24th and 26th August 2016/ CQI meeting on 12th April 2017)

1. Important dates

Table 1: FYP 1 (KC01102) Activities for Semester 1 2017/2018

Week 1-week 12
Student must have at least 7 meeting with supervisor, which are recorded in log book and
verified by respective supervisor.
1. Week 1  Briefing
(11-15 Sept 2017)

2. Week 2  Lecturer to upload the FYP titles in FYP online


(18-22 Sept. 2017)  Student to register in FYP online and enroll in KC01102
(smart2.ums.edu.my).
 Lecturer to accept student in FYP online
3. Week 3  Student to attend a class on systematic thesis writing
(25-29 Sept 2017) using MS Word and reference manager using MENDELEY.

4. Week 5 Student to submit 5 pages of FYP proposal to supervisor


(9-13 Oct. 2017) (hard copy) and coordinator (smart.2.ums.edu.my).
 The proposal should contain the following:
a. Background of study
b. Problem statement 3 Pages
c. Objectives
d. Scopes
e. Methodology (1 page)
f. Gantt Chart (1 page)
5. Week 14  Student to submit FYP report (Chapter 1-3) to examiner
(20 Dec. 2017) (hard copy), supervisor (hard copy) and coordinator
(smart2.ums.edu.my).
 The report must contained at least a preliminary data (e.g
calibration curve)
6. 1st week of exam  Viva
(2-5 Jan 2018)  Bring the log book to show to the examiner. Scan the log
book and submit it to coordinator (smart2.ums.edu.my).
7. nd
2 week of exam  Submit corrected FYP report to examiner (hard copy) and
(11 Jan 2018) coordinator (smart2.ums.edu.my).
 For late submission (maximum 1 week) of FYP report, the marks will be deducted (1% per day).
 ALL hardcopy report must be printed double sided
Table 2: FYP 2 (KC01204) Activities for semester II 2017/2018

Week 1-week 12
Student must have at least 7 meetings with supervisor, which are recorded in log book and
verified by respective supervisor.
1. Week 12  Student to submit a complete FYP report (Softcopy, Word
(7th May 2018) file) to supervisor for turnitin check, and do corrections if
Weeks 12,13 necessary.
(7th -15th May 2018)
2. Week 13  Submission of first report:
(15th May 2018) a) Logbook, complete FYP report AND turnitin report for
17th May 2018 supervisor (hard copy). Submit directly to supervisor
(Thursday) (Before 4.30pm).
b) Complete FYP report AND turnitin report for
examiner (hard copy). Submit to coordinator (Before
11.00am, Coordinator’s room, no 25, Block A).
c) Softcopy of logbook (Scan a minimum of 7 pages that
contain signature/verification from supervisor),
complete FYP report AND turnitin report for
coordinator (All must be in PDF format, upload in
smart2.ums.edu.my).
 Student to submit declaration forms for FYP lab tools
return to coordinator (hardcopy).
3. 1st week of exam  Viva
(23-25 May 2018)

4. 2nd week of exam  Submission of corrected FYP report AND turnitin report
(4 June 2018) a) Supervisor’s copy (hard copy) –submit directly to
supervisor
b) Examiner’s copy (hard copy)- submit to coordinator
*please include rebuttals from viva (responses to
examiners comment) together with the first FYP
report (first submission)
c) Coordinator’s copy (PDF format, upload in
smart2.ums.edu.my).

5. 11 June 2018  Due date for hardbound submission to FKJ (3 copies).

# students are advised to prepare 4 copies of hardbound


report: student-1copy, supervisor (1 copy) and FKJ-2
copies
 For late submission (maximum 1 week) of FYP report, the marks will be deducted (1% per day).
 ALL hardcopy report must be printed double sided
