Oral Classroom Presentation Reflection
Hennessie’s 5th period dance class. The audience was composed of thirteen dancers in the levels
three and four advanced dance, as well as the three aids that are currently in senior dance
company. I presented in the mini theater, dance studio, on the half day before Thanksgiving
break. If I could redo the presentation, I would make sure that I had the projector to use. Since it
is hard to access in the dance studio, we did not use the projector for the presentation, and I
showed my slides off my laptop. While this was not ideal, it did not cause too much of an issue
because the class was very small and still able to see the presentation. In addition, it forced me to
remember my presentation since I could not see the slides at all, I had to hold the screen facing
towards them. However, based on the response, they all thought that my presentation was very
well done. I got several compliments that the information was very well presented and
interesting. I think that it was the right decision to present to a dance class since my topic is
dance/movement therapy. They said that it was much more involving than they expected and that
the introduction was catchy. One thing I would like to change for next time, though, is that I
think I rushed through the explanation of neuroplasticity. I had one comment that they
remembered the word but not the definition. For next time, I hope that I have a longer period of
time, since we had a half day schedule and a fire drill beforehand, so that I do not feel as rushed
going through the presentation. Throughout these three presentations I have seen myself improve
at my confidence in front of the audience. I really sounded like I knew what I was talking about,
especially since I gave the whole presentation without looking at the slides at all. I think that I
also got much better at making my speaking more flowed together. I didn’t get any comments
about my use of “um” or “like” like I did during the first one to our class. I hope that, with class
assignments during the rest of year, I continue to grow like I did through these.
