PLANNING OVERVIEW – TERM 2
Year Level Unit Title Salvation Topic Aspect of Human Development
Coming to your table Eucharist Wondering at God who created people’s
4 bodies different

Overview – explanation of the content of the unit and how it explores the Salvation Topic and development of the Human Person

Students are encouraged to wonder at the physical differences between people who are made in the likeness of God. Along with this, students are taught that these
differences are one way that God has shown us that we are special and unique. God loves us despite (and because of) our uniqueness and differences. We see God’s love
for us through his giving of his son Jesus Christ.

Jesus, during his time on earth taught that all people’s differences are special and his disciples continued this message. In this unit of work students will learn that Holy
Communion is an important way in which Jesus unites people and draws them closer to him, despite the multitude of differences that exist inside and outside the Church.
Somewhat linked with this, students are taught to recognise that Holy Communion is a way in which God’s family is brought together and strengthened in love.

Finally, students explore the fact that though loving other’s differences is sometimes difficult Holy Communion strengthens them in this process. Elements of Mass are also
explored with Liturgy of the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Word key focus points. Through learning more about mass processes student’s relationship and understanding of
the Catholic community, evident at mass, is strengthened.
