1.-GENERAL

1.1.-CONFORMING CODES AND REGULATIONS

1.1.1.-All the equipment must be designed and constructed

according to the last edition of following codes and
regulations.

a) American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

b) Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
c) Dirección General de Normas (DGN)
d) Norma Oficial Mexicana (NOM)
e) National Electrical Code (NEC)

When equipment vendor doesn’t conform these norms and

regulations, must prove that his own codes and norms are
similar or superior to listed ones.

1.2.-DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE REQUIREMENTS

a).-Bus duct will be Plug-In type indoor service, completely

closed not ventilated for a complete plug-unit set with fuses
or thermomagnetic breakers.

b).-Bus duct structure must have enough strength to resist short

circuit efforts and those of shipment and installation without
suffering permanent damage.

c).-The surface of the Bus duct shall be blasted with sand or

commercial grade granulated metal or the surface should be
treated chemically and bonderized with zinc phosphate.
Before applying to the equipment the final finishing, a dry
layer of grey catalyzed epoxide should be applied except if
another color is indicated in the Technical Data Sheets.

1.2.1.-BUSES AND CONNECTIONS

a).-Bus duct bars must have a continuous capacity in

amperes according to technical data sheet, bars
must be of electrolitic copper and appropriate
dimensions for specified nominal current.

Temperature rise over the maximum 30 ºC room

temperature at the connections and bars, must not
exceed the 55 ºC from bar to bar and 40 ºC from bar
to cable.

b).-Bar joints must be silver-plated or tin-plated and

fastened with non- magnetic screws, high resistance
to corrosion and galvanically compatible. One flat
washer will be placed below screw head and
another below the nut. Nuts will be fastened with a
pressure washer.

c).-Bars will be supported by an insulating material

made of porcelain or epoxic with mechanical
strength to bear stresses caused by the short circuit
symmetric current.

d).-The arrangement of bus duct phases will be 1,2 and

3 from the front to the rear, and from the upper part
to the lower part or from left to right.

e).-Bus duct must have insulated windows to connect

plugable units without risk of installer and these
windows must be located each 610 mm maximum
one from the other in both sides, these must have a
hinged door which must cover the window when it's
not being used

f).-Electroduct will be completely closed non ventilated,

indoor use to avoid dust and accidental contact with
the bars.

2.-TESTS AND INSPECTIONS

2.1.-DESIGN TESTS

2.1.1.-The manufacturer must achieve design tests or warrantee

that has an established manufacture according to
prototipe designs, which have approved the tests for codes
in 1.1.1. Index specified herein

2.2.-ACCEPTING TESTS

HOJA 4/6
PROJECT No. DATE:

TITLE: BUS DUCT PLUG-IN No. EE-I15-BD

ELABORATED: REVIEW: APPROVED: COPY No:

2.2.1.-When bus duct is received at the factory; the

following tests will be done even though they will be
done later in the field loaded operation tests

2.2.2.-The bus duct will be demonstrated by dielectric test

for 60 secs, at 1000 volts plus the double of nominal
voltage for power bars.

2.3.-INSPECTION

2.3.1.-All the equipment will be inspected by ( ).

During any manufacturing stage and before shipping. (
). inspections don't release manufacturer of achieving
this specifications and technical data sheets
requirements.

3.- PACKING AND SHIPPING.

A).-The manufacturer must provide a package for bus duct according

to the following requirements

a).-That rainwater doesn't get inside the bus duct neither by the
top nor by the sides through transportation and storage.

b).-That bus duct shall be protected against handling damage,

possible transportation strikes and other work stoppages.

c).-That exterior can be marked with black paint at least the

following data:

1. Name and address of destination

2. Equipment number
3. Shipping number
4. Order number.

B).-Each shipping package containing spare parts, tools or anything

that has to be shipped separatelly from the bus duct, must have
well marked required data described above besides package
content.
