NARRATIVE REPORT ABOUT THE OUTREACH PROGRAM

In compliance with the requirement for the University of Batangas Core

Values (UBCV 104) otherwise known as “Service to Fellowmen” of Bachelor of
Arts in Legal Management (BA LEGMGT), fourth year students of the said
program have conducted an Outreach Activity last _________.

Mrs. Jesica Salao, the professor of the said subject, has divided the class
in consideration with the choice of each students as well as the residence of the
latter. Likewise, the said professor has clarified the necessary concepts and
procedures of the outreach activity as provided by the book University of
Batangas Core Value 4 Service to Fellowmen, written by Dr. Edward Babasa and
Dr. Primitiva Cometa, pages 41-47.

One of the groups under Legal Management is composed of five (5)

students. These students are Vea Gypsy M. Abante, Arnold V. De Castro, Alex
B. Ilagan Jr., John Rouen T. Marzo and Mirzi Olga Breech P. Silang. The said
group upon their discretion has chosen to conduct three activities only for one
day. These activities were the Cleaning of Brgy. San Roque’s Chapel, the
Repacking of Goods for the Underprivileged and the Distribution of the Goods to
the same.

Specifically, the said students have considered that said date of

accomplishment of the activity was ideal for the reason that it was part of the
Christmas Season. In connection with this, one essential spirit of Christmas is the
spirit of Giving. Giving, as per the said group, plays a potent role in the
attainment and execution of service in the highest possible means. Also, part of
giving is love. The said students believe that there will be no perfect giving if
there’s no presence of love. Love is as important as giving for the fact that love is
a key to the attainment of the best service that is to be employed to the individual
in a narrower view, and to the community- at large.
Furthermore, the said Legal Management students are aspiring lawyers.
And as aspiring lawyers, they know that legal profession is a noble profession.
This is for the fact that being a lawyer is being a provider of public service and
not an acquirer of a luxurious life incompetent of considering the real essence of
service. In other words, legal profession is not for business but for public service.
These concepts provide a clear understanding for the said Legal Management
students regarding their notion of service.

In connection with the foregoing, the group has accomplished the

following activities in line with service:

1. Cleaning of Brgy. San Roque’s Chapel. The group has extended their help to
Barangay San Roque in Bauan, Batangas by way of cleaning the Chapel of the
said Barangay. It is indeed necessary to maintain the cleanliness of the chapel
for it is considered by the residents of Brgy. San Roque as temple of God.

2. Repacking of Goods for the Underprivileged. The said students have

contributed to the sponsors of the goods that would be distributed to the
underprivileged of Brgy. San Roque. The said goods are definitely beneficial for
the class of persons mentioned.

3. Distribution of Goods to the Underprivileged. After repacking, the group

together with the officers of the Chapel has given out the repacked goods to the
underprivileged. For the group, the distribution was the most difficult activity they
have conducted but the most inspiring one for the reason that they have
witnessed the real life situation of various families who are less fortunate.

To sum up, the outreach activity has instilled the following positive virtues
regarding service towards the AB Legal Management students:

1. Service is associated to abnegation. This is for the reason that rendering pure
and true service is the same as being selfless.
2. There can never be any replacement for the happiness and pleasure made by
rendering service.

3. He who walks with the wise and generous grows wise and generous but the
companion of fools and selfish suffers harm.

4. Service calls for unity in order for the society-at large to attain the highest
possible development and progress.

5. Service to fellowmen can be associated with the two other Core Values of the
University of Batangas as herein provided:

a. Faith in God- It is very clear that in light of the virtues of God, service is
included. Thus, it is logical to point out that a real service is a service to God,
hence, a manifestation of one’s commitment and faith to God.

b. Love of Wisdom- A true wise man is able to extend and offer his or her
learning to others for the latter to be able to acquire the contribution brought by
such learning. In other words, service is sharing one’s knowledge to others
especially those who are illiterate.
