At this seminar, Dr. Mack introduced the requirement for all students of the creation of an
eportfolio. He detailed what it is supposed to look like with the required components, but also
allowed for creativity in its creation. Also, he introduced new faculty to the healthcare

At this seminar further explanation of the eportfolio was provided, and specific details of what
should be included on the Weebly website were given. Reflections are explanations on how the
artifacts met the outcomes for the program. Milestones for each semester in the healthcare
informatics program were documented and elaborated on, which are what should be completed
during each semester in the program. For those graduating, specific details such as capstone and
presentation requirements were explained. Additional faculty will be helping students with
figuring out their direction with capstone and residency requirements due to the program’s

At the beginning of the seminar Dr. Mack directed focus to relevant websites in healthcare
Connect was shown to be a resource for informatics graduate students. An update to the program
was explained, which included all students taking the database class, HCIN 243, before the
residency placement in order to become better prepared. The eportfolio was further emphasized
and directions were given concerning content and submission. This seminar was another good
period in order to ensure students were meeting academic progress, as well as networking with
other students and faculty about career aspirations and residency placement.
At this month’s seminar, tacos were provided, and the meeting location was in the foyer
outside the Beyster Building. It was a much more casual event and seemed to emphasize more
networking opportunities. New faculty were introduced to the students, and the eportfolio was
again emphasized but not explained in detail. Those who were graduating were congratulated,
and Dr. Mack was also thanked for all the assistance he provided. I can personally note that he
was an invaluable resource during the program and meeting with him was always helpful.
