Project Title
Final Project (Unit 8) – How makeup has changed through the
years and why
Section 1: Rationale (Approx 100 words)
At the start of the course, I did not know how to work the camera the college use, use Adobe Premier
Pro without any assistance or use Adobe After Effects. I now know how to do all of these things;
however, I still need some work with using After Effects and build up the techniques available to use on
Adobe Premier Pro. Not only have I gained some of the practical skills but I have also learnt how to
research affectively, using primary and secondary research. !earning these research techniques, has
allowed me to develop my ideas and really think about if my idea is going to work, and to think about the
positive and negatives of doing it as well. Planning and production has helped me to organise my work
and making a schedule allows me to get all of my work done on time. After practicing these techniques,
I am now able to choose a suitable pathway to go into for my final project. I am able to create an
educational, tutorial, short film, which will not only go towards my final grade for my course, but it will
also create self-love and confidence to people.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)

The main purpose of my final protect idea is to educate an audience to inform them of how makeup has
changed over the years, and what it is like now. I want to visually show the changed of makeup from the
1900’s to now (2018), I am going to show this by a female doing the makeup looks but, they will be time
lapsed. I am going to have audio over the top of the makeup products they used and why they used
them. In my opinion, I think it is important to explain why people used certain items and products in that
era, and what made the makeup effective. Moreover, I then want to show the female doing her own
makeup in today(s society, without it being time lapsed.

During my development of my idea, I am going to do primary research on what would engage people to
watch my short film, I am going to do this by creating a survey and a focus group; I also want to get
different people(s opinions on makeup and see if my results are positive or negative. Moreover, I am
going to do some secondary research on how makeup has changed from the 1900’s'to now. I will
research the makeup products they used, why they used them and the tools and equipment, which they
used to apply them.

I am not certain, but I may also include 2/3 mini interviews throughout my short film from different
genders, age range and ethnicity(s and get their perspective on makeup. If I do this idea, I will ask those

questions based on the responses I receive from my survey and to achieve a good
quality short film, I will need to use a tripod, camera, stabiliser and big bright lights. I will also need to
collect all of the makeup and tools needed and wat colour to use for the background that will make the
makeup stand out the most.

Section 3: Evaluation Methods (approx 50 words)

I am going to use primary and secondary research techniques to gather as much information as I can. I
am also going to be evaluating my problem solving and explaining how I solved the problems I faced.

Self-evaluation is important because, you can learn where you went wrong and what techniques you
have used throughout the project. Getting self-evaluations from other people will help me to see what
else I need to include and so will audiences feedback on my work.

Project Action Plan and Timetable

This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of
weeks, and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successful complete your project within the
agreed time frame. It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project.
This should include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. The more time and thought you
give to
planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be. Remember to include: time spent sourcing
materials,
questionnaires, access to workshops, tutorial and peer group feedback, and where you will incorporate
independent study
