Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex shows impeccable initiative, when he learns of his prophecy and takes his fate into
his own hands when he travels to Thebes seeking a new life. Oedipus shows concern for others
when he worries for Antigone and Ismene and asks Creon to pity them because of their
futuristic struggle with their heritage. He is extremely goal-oriented and persistent when he sets
his mind to something, which is the core to a successful student, for example when he was
uncovering the truth behind the unexpected tragedies of Thebes. He shows great integrity and
maturity, for example he admits to his wrong-doings and believes in justice for it. He also shows
great intellectual promise, because he is very insightful and is analytical, he doesn’t stop
learning new information. Oedipus shows respect to Creon when he admits his wrong-doing and
begs for his forgiveness. He has a positive reaction to setbacks because he sees his mistakes
and admits to it.

Siddhartha shows impeccable reactions to setbacks by reconciling the situation and finding a
new and different way to accomplish the goal. For example when he left the Brahmins and
joined the Samanas because he didn’t feel he’d learned enough. This also shows his intellectual
promise he is never content with his knowledge he thirsts to learn more and will continue his
education until fulfillment. Siddhartha has more than exceptional disciplined habits, because he
knows how to discipline himself, like when he was with the Samanas and he would discipline
himself to reach his spiritual goal. He shows concern for others when he cares for Kamala after
her snake bite and tried to nurse her back to health. He has respect for elders and people
around them. He shows maturity when he leaves home and goes out on his own asking for his
father's blessing before leaving.
Assignment #3
“Life Is Worth Living"
Ended up on a crossroad
Try to figure out which way to go
It's like you're stuck on a treadmill
Running in the same place Commented [1]: This lyric relates to me at one point in
You got your hazard lights on now my life I felt like I was running but without purpose or
intention. It reminds me of the time where I felt like I
Hoping that somebody would slow down wanted something but I did not know what I was
Praying for a miracle missing like I could not move ahead.
Who'll show you grace? Commented [2]: I always try to live my life
Had a couple dollars and a quarter tank of gas empathetically and put myself in people shoes and I
know that if I were dealing with some of my friends
With a long journey ahead problem I would want some one to show me grace
Seen a truck pull over when I did not deserve it. And I would want some one
God sent an angel to help you out to treat me with grace as well.
This song is “my song” because it reflects a lot of things that I believe in about staying true to
yourself, overcoming obstacles, and looking to God above all. I think that it's hard to stay true to
what you believe when everyone says your wrong just because it's not what they believe. When
Justin Bieber wrote his album it coincided with what I was believed about Christianity and also
just my struggle to salvage friendships and look for hope at that time in my life. It will never be
the time to give up on myself or my dreams because life is an expensive gift that if isn’t
cherished will end without purpose and that why I chose this song, because the valleys are just
moments away from the hills.
Assignment #4
For the results for academic achievement I was surprised with the results, not because they
were bad but because I thought people rated me too well. I work hard in school and I’m always
planning for AP or Dual Enrollment classes that will boost my grade point average. I have a 3.7
which is the same as an A- and while I’m proud of my grade point average I know I could do
more and do better if I just find what works for me in my areas of struggle which is primarily
Mathematics and English. I would give myself Very Good for academic achievement.
For reaction to setbacks, overall I’m proud of these results and can say that I can bounce back
from setbacks quickly even if it isn’t easy. I believe that these results are an accurate
representation of who I am and it also shows my character and my drive and I think the people
around me can see this as much as I can in myself. I see the importance of drive and
determination and all my motivation is driven by my endless striving for success and
opportunity. For reaction to setbacks I’d probably give myself a Very Good because I know I
could work harder at not being so hard on myself.
Faculty respect is a strong suit for me, my parents have always said to treat everyone with
respect. I don’t agree with every adults opinion or methods but I’ve learned to respect the
differences and find common ground. This has taught me great discipline that helps me be a
more secure and personable person and it furthers me in my career as a highschooler and
eventually will give me a leg up in the workplace. I would give myself outstanding only because
there could’ve been a situation where I might’ve done something but I can’t think of a time
recently.
Intellectual promise is importance it shows your need for growth and your ability to, and I can
say that I agree with the survey answers from excellent to outstanding. I always want to learn
more and go to a higher education to better myself and while I may not be as “quick” with
learning or retaining information as my classmates I have a drive that most lack and I want to be
smarter, quicker, and better every single day. I would give myself Excellent because I’m
relentless when I set my mind to something that I want.
All the results were different when it came to my disciplined habits, I can be very strict with what
I want accomplish but I also can be passive. I like to write things down and have a list so I can
accomplish it one by one and I can get a lot of work done at once but I’m not one to put my
school work over that small time a day for myself. My habit is “work then play” spend as much
time as you want to play working and making sure than I can balance both school and work. I
would give myself Good (above average) because I can be very disciplined also very balanced
in every area of my life.
I’ve been told I have very articulate and clear handwriting and an outstanding reading ability and
that is something that I take pride in. In third grade I was reading at a sixth grade level and I was
placed into an “advanced” class. I love to read and write but it’s not easy to do paper for school
because you never know what that specific teacher expects of you. The results weren’t
surprising but it gave me insight that I could invest more time into that specific area to try to
improve some more. I would give myself Excellent I’m by no means the best writer but I have
the potential to express my words eloquently if I invest a bit more into it.
It’s in my nature to be very compassionate and empathetic to a fault and sometimes that affects
my jugement in character but I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. The results
didn’t surprise me personally because I am aware of who I am, but I hope that in some way that
I have shown compassion or empathy for one of these people that have surveyed me and I
have been helpful or encouraging to them. I would give myself Outstanding because I truly care
about people and what they and I can empathize with them.
I take initiative in everything that I do whether it be in school, at home, or spiritually etc. I always
like to be on top of things. Initiative to me is making the first move and showing drive in any area
that you put your mind to. Initiative takes strength, discipline, and maturity. Maturity to get back
up after a fall, to let things go, and to try again if you're shot down. I was happy with these
results because I think it does reflect me well I’m not always my best but I try and it doesn’t
show me as perfect it shows me in almost all situations. I would give myself Very Good I have
drive but I also have a need to slow down and not do everything.
I’ve always had a sense of responsibility to uphold my name and also my families. I’m very
career and task-oriented and I think that maturity is a lacking characteristic of my generation.
Maturity is self-discipline, initiative, respect, concern for others, behavior etc. It’s more that just
being able to behave yourself it’s a lifestyle in my opinion and you choose it. I’m happy to know
that my friends, family, and teachers think highly of me and think that I display great maturity in
my school and private life. I would give myself Outstanding I feel as though I’m extremely
mature in my thinking and my actions I still have a lot of growing up to do so I don’t think it is
“the best I’ve ever encountered.”
Free Response:
Based on your evaluation score, what areas do you think I need to improve on most and what
areas are my strong suit? If there is any other evaluations that I missed that you would like to
comment on please feel free to say so. This evaluation is completely anonymous.
1. Nothing
2. think you only need to work on discipline for yourself school wise and everything else
you Gucci
3. Not being too hard on yourself.
4. You’re definitely one of the most mature people I know. You always give the best advice
as well, and your writing skills are beyond your years. I’ve loved seeing you blossom into
the amazing woman you are. One areA I would say you could work on would be to relax
more. I understand religion is a big aspect of your life, it is mine as well, but some days
you just need to live a little and make experiences for yourself. Keep a more open mind
to ideas.
5. You are a very conscientious student when compared to others your age. It's clear that
you put great thought and effort into all that you do. The only area I think you could
improve upon is continuing to build your confidence within your classes. I could often tell
when you knew correct information or had great ideas to share, but felt that sometimes you
held back and allowed others to jump in. You have wonderful ideas and they deserve to be heard!
For the survey Cameron, Shay, Ms. Heischober, Mrs. Brooks and my mom took the survey for
my results shown above. In the beginning of this project, I thought I had clarity on who I am and
what I’m not and to be honest I was okay with what I knew about myself. After analyzing the
surveys and seeing what people said about me, I was surprised and disappointed. There was
nothing that was said that would be reflected poorly on me but there was an underlying theme
that I knew was an issue but I just thought that it was who I am. I have never been the type of
person to go out of their way to connect with people and get into the school because I have
never felt the need to. After hearing the responses from my youth leader, teacher, and friends I
realize they all have one thing in common which is my confidence. In every aspect of the survey
I received at least a above average which I was okay with but in the free response everyone
talked about or alluded to the need for my confidence in my work and in myself and how it would
make such a difference in the quality of my work and myself personal life. It had me ask the
question what would it look like if I stepped out of comfort zone and tried to put myself out there.
I’ll never be the person who is completely outgoing and immerses themselves in everything but I
want to be the person who doesn’t shy away from good opportunities because that's “who I am”.
My strengths are respect, integrity, and maturity but my weaknesses are confidence and
enjoying myself. I know that I could do anything I set my mind to and sometimes I compare
myself to other people like I don’t have what it takes to do what they are doing or better but I do
so I’m just going to try a little more, study a little harder, and cut myself some slack because I’m
not “them” i am wonderfully and fearfully me.
