SDGs addressed

For target 4.4 aiming to ensure that by 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant
skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, LiveLearning plays part
in helping increase the numbers of youth and adult who have relevant skills since in platform, students can learn various
knowledge and skills such as, the technical and vocational skills, which are shared by freelancers with various expertises.

Target 4.7 aims to ensure that by 2030, all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable
development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles,
human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation
of culturaldiversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development. LiveLearning can help address this goal
by that students in platform will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development

Thailand 4.0 -Educational reform

According to Ministry of Education, Matichon and Thairath, recently, Thailand has aimed at building and supporting
practical, academic, social, and moral skills to enhance education and literacy conditions. Numbers of free schoolings
have increased over the past few years in order to meet different needs of students across urban and remote areas
and to ensure equality and quality of education for all, particularly to repond on Thailand 4.0 policy. Government creates
policy of Thailand 4.0 with the intention to mitigate and tackle of below edcuation challenges:

Challenges of Thailand educational system

1. Inaccessible to schooling in many areas across nation, particularly those with disadvantaged backgrounds in
attending school due to various reasons such as financial, social, or physical factors.
2. Lacking of practical and transferable skills building especially within a formal schooling system where
academic competency is greatly prioritised.
3. The complexity and lack of support and resources that holding back the implementation of education reform.

In the era of Education 4.0, learning system has to enable individuals to not only acquire knowledge and skills through
the abundant availability of knowledge sources, but also enable them to apply what they possess in a creative
and innovative way to response to the rising social needs/issues. The new education system therefore highlight the
improvement of:

1. Self learning;
2. Further expansion/development upon acquired knowledge and skills; and
3. Useful application and adaptation of knowledge

So, specific objectives of Thailand Education Reform 4.0 policy are:

1.) to improve the curriculum.

2.) to create and become learning space in a more flexible way and more motivated context
3.) to prepare students for jobs that do not yet exist, now teaching global perspectives, resilience and creativity.
3.) to embrace non-traditional students and new platforms of teaching and shift to learner-centric education with
individualized content.

The policy claims that Information and communication technology (ICT) is essential in addressing disparities between
rural and urban areas across Thailand through enhancing effective participation, and ICT education shall be part of the
long term vision for Thailand's education. (2018)

Environmental scan

According to ASEAN Information Center (Government Public Relation Department), since 2015, Thailand has
stepped into Asean Community, which causes the country to develop many sectors in order to ensure higher
qualities of working and operation.

Thailand needs to develop nine fields of professional standards

In order to cope with the changing of education within Asean Community, the country has to focus more on nine fields of professional
standards which are logistic, automobiles and its parts, Thai cuisine, fashion, information technology and communication, beauty and spa,
construction, retail business and gem and jewelry. According to these, Thai government creates policies, aiming to prepare Thai citizens to be
able to effectively work within international community - for example, policies to follow up other ASEAN members’ education-policy and to arrange
the working group for information exchange in order to develop the linking-networks within Asean countries.
Thus, Livelearning can be a useful channel that supports on what Thai government is willing and trying to achieve. As the platform gives more
opportunities of all international communities to share knowledge, skill and experience with each other. (2015)

and figure 5. (2017)

Peer-to-peer learning
The Memo said that as technology will take over in
various sectors, including education, all the lectures
and exercises will be online. Peer-to-peer learning can
well respond on students’ need as well as driving the
productivity in learning. Students will be able to submit
assignments, mark each other’s assignments, and even
give feedback. Thus teachers will be able to see an overview of what went
smoothly or not, and not having to spend all their time grading their student.
The roles of teachers will be redefine. (2017) Therefore, peer-to-peer or
online learning where students can give feedbacks and evaluations to both
lecturers and other studenrs can well respond on students’ needs as well
as driving the productivity in learning. Figure 4, types of works of gig workers,

Trend of GIG
Based on G-Able, the occupation trend indicates
the rise of freelancers in the job market due
to the growth of gig economy. People will
have a chance to work in more flexible jobs and
earn money on a schedule, which they have more
amount of control than full-time careers. This is the
GIG economy trend. (2018) Mangopay estimated that currently there are gig worker
around 1.1 million persons, who are more
likely aged between 16 - 30 years old.
(2017) According to Balaram, Warden
and Wallace-Stephens, many gig
workers or freelancers are engaging in
three main types of works - such as, Figure 5, participation of gig workers in platforms,
1) professional, creative or administrative extracted from Balaram, Warden and Wallace-Stephens (2018)

Results of Direct Interviews with freelancers and students

In-person student interview

- The range of cost paid for courses at tutoring institution and private tutor is range between 250 to 800 baht per hour.
- Common difficulties which students encounter with are traffic, limited space available in a course, uncomfortable seats,
and commuting to institution.
- Students mostly based their choice of tutor/institution on their academic backgrounds, level of recognition, and success
rate of students who are able to get into their desired university. Location is a secondary factor, followed by price.
- Most students would like to have a better seat, more courses available, and a closer location in order to study effectively
and conveniently.
- Students mostly spend 30 minutes to one hour in order to commute to the institution.

In-person freelancer interviews

- They would like to establish deep connections with consumers as the platform allow them to communicate
with customers.
- Most of them always face with the difficulties in finding customers as they do not really know how to access to
majority of customers. They use words of mouth to promote their jobs and capacities.
- Each freelancer has different capacity, knowledge and skills. Although some of them are willing to teach others to
gain additional income, but they seem to not willing to share techniques and some skills to others.
Photographer freelancer confesses that his job is not suitable to host livestream because he has to go outside
and do works.
- Freelancers have diverse ranges of income per month

Platform architecture
There are two groups of participants - freelancers and students. Freelancers as producers are those who have
knowledge, available time and unsecured working condition, causing them to receive unequal amount of income in
each month, which means that their motivation in participating this platform is the demand to receive additional
income.
Students as consumers are both high school students and university students, who have experienced difficulties
in learning at tutoring school, and desired to learn knowledge and skills that cannot be obtained, or efficiently
developed from classrooms.
Participants

Exchange of information is about details of producers that consumers will look at in order to make decision
whether they should select those livestreaming for learning purpose or not. Those details are including hosting
schedule, educational background, subject or content that will be taught on livestreaming, and performance rating.
Exchange of goods and services occurs as consumers decide to get educational service from particular producers
by deciding to watch their livestream. While watching, those producers may also provide extra services - for example,
quizzes, students’ performance checking, learning material, checking assignment and consultants.
Exchange of currency in LiveLearning platform is consisted of stars on specific producers’ performances from
consumers, money from payment transaction, and likes, subscribes and A-special card from consumers.

Value units

The main value units of LiveLearning are contents shared through livestreaming, and money that producers will
receive from hosting livestreaming. In order to ensure that those value units are effectively delivered, effective
filters need to be embedded into platform. In case of LiveLearning platform, four filters are developed, which are
search query via categorization, recommendation on livestream and upcoming schedule, and verification on
transactions.

Filters
15
Platform architecture

Interests selected on profile page

According to figure 23, after consumers decide to register as users in platform, in the sign-up page, there is section, in which
consumers and producers can select what are three main interesting subjects. This information will be utilized to match them with
producers who select the same interests in their profile page. This means that after selecting, the first page of consumers will
mostly show upcoming livestreams, and currently hosted livestreams according to their interests. The information of interests will
Figure 23, section for selecting
also be displayed at profile page, if other consumers click and look at their profile pages
interests in profile

Search query via categorization

By selecting particular skill or subject provided in list of category (figure 24), consumers will encounter with lists of selected
subjects, attached with many options of livestreamings. This enables consumers with opportunity to explore other subjects,
apart from what they already select as interesting ones
Figure 24, search query by
selecting subject or typing nearby

Recommendation on livestream and upcoming schedule

’ After logging in, consumers will encounter with recommendation of past livestreaming and upcoming livestreaming, shown
differently according to interests, and their history of selection and watching. This is to ensure that consumers will see only
relevant livestreaming and the upcoming one, stimulating motivation in learning on different or same producers. The
recommendations are ordered according to numbers of likes, dislikes and rating on performances of particular producers. As
demonstrated in figure 25, upcoming livestream schedules of producers with high likes and high rating on performance will be
ordered in the higher rank than those with less likes, and less rating. This filter is to assure that consumers will watch and learn
high quality contents, developing consumers’ knowledge and capacity. Certainly, this filter helps connect consumers with new

Verification on transactions

’ This filter is to ensure security for consumers that every transaction is made with their consents. After consumers click ‘pay
now’, there would be the email to consumers’ email about security code, which needs to be filled in the next page indicated. (see
figures 26, 27 and 28). To clarify, this filter will be activated when users click submit to make transaction by sending a message in
term of verify number to email or phone numbers in order to make users to confirm it again in website that such transaction is
accurately made by them.

Core interaction of producers Core interaction of consumers

Above filters are developed to ensure that consumers can select and learn from the right livestreaming hosted by producers, and to facilitate
successful exchanges of information, service and currency between consumers and producers. Therefore, LiveLearning platform has two core
interactions from producers and consumers. For producers, their core interaction is to host livestream for teaching certain contents, based on individual
experiences, expertise and knowledge, while consumers has core interaction as selecting and learning particular livestreaming, which they are interested
in and thinking that it can provide new knowledge and capacity for learners. In order to support this statement, figure 10 illustrates that most producers
who were interviewed are willing to participate platform as producers to host livestreaming to obtain money

Empowering tools and service (features)

To ensure quality contents and quality of producers, there are parficular four curation system - rating performances of
producers, reporting system, badges of producers, and recommend system filter. Some of them are activated by consumers,
while some of them are activated by both sides of users.

Rating performances of producers (Figure 31)

After students finish watching Livestreaming, consumers will be able to rate performances of producers, which can help others to decide
whether they should watch contents of particular producers or not. Consequently, producers with poor rating on performance will receive
less numbers of watching, and less financial earning, which will stimulate them to improve quality of contents.

Reporting system (Figure 29)

Both consumers and producers are given the ability to report certain contents, messages, statement and livestreaming that are against
the aforementioned rules. The reporting system is attached in every page of Livelearning platform to assure that users can report
misconducts immediately without switching pages.

Likes, dislikes, subscribe and share features on Livestreaming page (Figure 34)

Consumers can like, dislike, subscribe or share each livestreaming they are watching to indicate whether they are satisfied with the
quality of contents or not. These contributions will directly affect overall monthly incomes, received by individual producers. Likes, subcribes

Clarification on enhanced service (assignment checking)

Enhanced access to provide homework-checking service for producers
Producers need to indicate that they provide this service to consumers by
turning on assignment acceptance at their profile pages. Each service
provided by producers to consumers will give producer 1 A-special card, which
producers can later exchange to actual income. 1 A-special card can be
exchanged to 100 baht, but if the assignment highly requires huge amount
of energy and time for checking, producers can ask more A-special card
before sending back with feedback on particular assignment.
