Introduction to FSP Specifications
This document contains the module specification for the FSP 3000R7
Release 7.1.
For an overview of the supported modules and features of the Release 7.1
subreleases please refer to the Release Notes.
In this specification you can find short function descriptions and detailed
technical data. This is the correct reference if you are planning an optical
network containing FSP 3000R7 components.
Further Support There are several more resources available:
• The FSP 3000R7 Hardware Description. Though primarily intended
for technicians installing and maintaining a network element you
will find helpful information there such as port designations,
schematics and a longer functional description. This specification
document and the module descriptions have the same structure so
you can use them side by side.
• The FSP 3000R7 Rel. 7.1 Network Planner is a software-based tool
that supports the complete planning process.

The 7HU Shelf (SH7HU) of the FSP3000R7 features 22 slots. The slots 1
through 20 are 4HP wide and 5HU high. The two slots most left are of half
size height and named A and B. These slots are predetermined for the
Shelf Control Unit (SCU) and Network Control Unit (NCU). All other mod-
ules of the FSP3000R7 system can be plugged in anywhere in slots 1
through 20.
The SH7HU can be equipped with the following management modules:
• Network Control Unit (NCU) and Shelf Control Unit (SCU)
• Shelf Control Unit (SCU)
A FSP3000R7 shelf is called:
• master Shelf if it is equipped with an NCU and an SCU
• main Shelf if it is equipped with an SCU only
Channel modules working in a protection group for channel module pro-
tection do not need to be positioned in neighboring slots.
For the SH7HU are two different versions of power supply modules avail-
able, AC/DC and DC/DC. Both modules can be located in slot 1 and 19 and
will have front accessible power plugs.
The FAN/Plug-In unit of the SH7HU is a plug-in module, which can be ex-
changed in less than three minutes. It is located at top of the shelf.

3.3 8TCA-PC-2G1U+10G-V#Dxx
The 8TCA-PC-2G1U+10G-V#Dxx is an 8-port time division multiplexing
channel module with pluggable client interfaces that electrically
multiplexes and demultiplexes the signals of up to eight client interfaces
onto one wavelength.
The eight client ports are arranged in four groups of 2 channels each.
These four groups are: Ports 2/1, 4/3, 6/5, 7/8. Two GbE, two FC or one
2G FC data streams per group can be transmitted. Mixing of applications
within a group is not possible. For 2G FC services the ports 2, 4, 6, 7 must
be used.
The module utilizes a two-stage multiplexing method. In the first stage
each group is mapped into a data stream with a constant bit rate of
2.48832 Gbit/s. The second stage wraps these four data streams in four
ODU-1 signals and multiplexes them in a proprietary way to a network

3.4 8TCA-PC-2G1U+10G-V#Cxxxx
The 8TCA-PC-2G1U+10G-V#Cxxxx is an 8-port time division multiplexing
channel module with pluggable client interfaces that electrically
multiplexes and demultiplexes the signals of up to eight client interfaces
onto one wavelength.
ODU-1 signals and multiplexes them in a proprietary way to a network
signal with a bit rate of 10.709 Gbit/s without FEC.

Use of DCM with Doublestage EDFA
The midstage access of doublestage EDFAs allows to insert a dispersion
compensation module without effecting the line budget.
The maximum per channel input power into a DCM is limited to 0 dBm to
avoid non linear effects. The output power at the midstage port of a
doublestage EDFA may violate this limit if the input power at low channel
counts is high.
The following tables provide maximum per channel input power values in
dependence of channel count and DCM type:
