ABSTRACT
The interest read was the attitude trend that was shown by carrying out the
activity read was carried out with the happy feeling and it was considered
important and useful (Slameto,1987). Variable that was estimated could influence
the interest read was the internet. This research aimed at knowing the influence of
the internet on the student’s interest of reading in Widyatama University. This
research said that the internet could increase the interest in reading, so if the use
of internet is increase , then the student’s interest of reading is high. The
questionnaire in this research was alid and reliable, so as the appropriate data to
be used. The number of respondents in this research was 177 people. The taking
of the sample was carried outby means of convenience sampling. Technically the
data collection that is with the spreading of the poll that was carried out in
Univesitas Widyatama, the interview and the study of the bibliography. Results of
simple regression stated that the influential internet was positive towards the
interest read of 66.5 % from variable the interest read, whereas 33.4 % was
explained by the other factor that was not researched. Results of the multiplied
regression test said that the dimension internsitas the use of the influential
internet positive with the significance less than 0.05 that is 0.052, the dimension
of the clarity of information in the influential internet positive with the
significance of 0.003, the dimension of the aim of using the influential internet
was positive towards the interest read with the significance 0.001, the dimension
of the influential application positive with the significance 0.006, whereas the
dimension of knowledge was not influential towards the interest.
