ACTION PLAN

This outline serves as a basic template for your action plan. Use additional space and resources to help you
build out each part with the right amount of detail and flow to ensure you have the strongest action plan that you
and your team can implement with ease. Remember, this is your road map for your service project!

TEAM GOAL:
As a team, create a coal for service that uses at one of the following:
➔ Direct service: Personally engaging with and providing hands-on services to those in need (usually in
conjunction with an organization)
Donating water with the Raleigh Rescue Mission
➔ Indirect service: Channeling resources to the needs of a community - locally, nationally, or
internationally.
Donate water
➔ Advocacy: Educating others about an issue to increase visibility and follow up with an action that
focuses on enacting change.
Think about the following questions as you write your goal(s):
● Educate Rolesville Middle School classes on the water issues
● Start a water drive
● We will start a survey for the students to answer at the end of the presentation to track the
number of students who we had presented to
➔ Is this goal specific enough so that we know exactly what our team will accomplish?
Yes it is specific and will be easy to achieve
➔ Is it achievable within our project period?\
We will have enough time to do this
➔ Is it relevant to the social issue we are aiming to address?
We are aiming to address the middle schoolers that even though we have access to clean water, people
around the world may not have that water and we need to help those around us in need.
➔ Do we know the deadline by which it will be accomplished? (Monday 1/8)
The end of the water drive should be December 15.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
➔ How will your team measure the success of your action plan?
To measure our success we should be able to have educated more than 100 students and have
had collected more than 150 water bottles or gallons.
➔ S.M.A.R.T Goal
◆ Specific - What, exactly, do you hope to accomplish? Be clear about all of the details involved in
your goal. Answer the “who, what, when, where, and why”
By the end of our project, we hope to educate middle school students from Rolesville Middle
School and get them more involved with the community and world around them. We will also
try to start a water donation for about 3 weeks.
◆ Measurable - How will you know you’ve achieved your goal? Be specific about what you must
do to successfully achieve it.
By achieving our plan we will gain a considerable amount to donate
◆ Attainable - Is your goal realistic or more of a dream? Don’t be afraid to dream big, but be
reasonable and set realistic goals.. This is called “right-sizing” your plan
Our goal is achievable if we get permission to start the water drive and present to middle school
classes.
◆ Relevant - What is the value? Is the goal important in relation to the social issue you’re working
on? Does it pass the “so what?” test?
The value of this is that people who do not have access to clean water will have access to clean
water.
◆ Time-bound - By what date will you accomplish the goal? What is a reasonable timeline you can
set?
This water drive should be done by the 15th of December and have been started November 27th.
