I will be choosing the effects of immigration on a nuclear family the reason I choose
this is because I see so many wrong things about all this and as a Latina myself and
seeing my family go through the same thing hurts so much and they have to do
something about this because it’s just not fair and I’m so against everything that’s been
going on lately with immigration. I see that the children don’t have as many privileges at
school , especially when it comes to college or universities . As a Latina I seen that it’s
poorly educated natives resist taking low paying jobs at the bottom of the occupation
scale creating a strong demand for immigrants. You can tell right away the difference of
how they treat an American citizen compared to an immigrant . It’s so racist and this
needs to stop . Especially with Trump's new rules . This system continues to keep
These people go through so much as it is to just get to the U.S. They basically risk
themselves into death by just crossing the border . Hundreds of people within a year die
because the exposure to the deserts , they get heat strokes or run out of water and get
dehydrated. We see how these immigrants are willing to go through anything to get to
the U.S and live a better live and make more money but sadly to say once they get here
it's even hard at times to find a job because they don't have papers. Even though not to
be rude or anything but most of the people that are outside in the fields or construction
etc are usually latinos cause there such hard workers but they consider them so
different just because they don't have those “papers” that all citizens have.
The book Garcia girls lost their accents relates so much to immigration and how it
affected their families. They never felt like they really belonged in the U.S they felt like
any chance they were going to get sent back to the Dominican Republic. The girls at
school felt like they were getting treated differently because they had an accent and
people would make fun of them, they struggled. As time passed by they didn't really
listened and proved to them they were the same as everyone else. This book explores

This story talks about the academic resilience of two Latino students that came from
Stanford and how they came to the U.S when they were older. They explain how to
provide insights into the common struggles faced by many first-time college students
who rely on emotional support of families and academic support from faculty and staff at
institutions of higher education. As a college student myself this article can help me out
a lot and not only me but all other college or university students. If people are going
through struggles and can’t find there way out they can read this story and it will help
them out to not feel alone especially coming from somewhere else and being an
immigrant.
Milkman, Ruth. “Immigrants and the road to power.” Dissent 59.3 (2012): 52+.Academic
Milkman shows how immigrants come from all over the world and how just talking about
this subject can be very emotional. He explains how all immigrants most of the time
come to the U.S for the work environment and how they just want a better live for
themselves and their families. He even mentions how immigrants are more hard
working than any citizen because they appreciate everything they can possibly have as
a job whether they pay them the minimum wage or even lower.
Speaking for all immigrants , they all want to have a wealthy family and i'm not saying
theres only cons to all this immigration stuff but there is also some pros. Which have to
do with the green card and a lot of people were able to get this and go to school and
travel . The new president should keep doing little gestures like this for all these
immigrants because every day more and more keep coming. They can be offered a
path to legal status and sooner or later be able to receive their citizenship. Being able to
allow these immigrants to get their status up to citizenship can allow us to strengthen
our national defense and foreign relations of the U.S and it can also raise levels to the
economy and make America look rich, vibrant and be considered a diverse culture.
