EE6511 - Control & Instrumentation Laboratory

1. a)Conduct a suitable test to determine the Kt -Motor torque constant and Kb back-emf constant of
the given D.C motor.
b) Perform an experiment to measure the resistance value of the given resistors using a DC Bridge
which is suitable for measurement of medium resistance. Also find the sensitivity of the used
bridge
2.a) Find the open loop gain, time constants and step response for the following first order System
theoretically and very the same with mat lab.

b) With suitable experiment obtain the characteristics of operational amplifier as instrumentation


amplifier.
3. a)Consider the unit step response of a unity feed back control system whose open
loop transfer function is

b) Perform measurement of resistance of the given resistors accurately using a DC bridge which has
double set of ratio arms.
4. a)Determine the error produced by a D.C position control system for the positions of 100, 150,
200,300.degrees.
b) With suitable measurement obtain the analog outputs of the digital inputs using R-2R
Ladder network and verify the practical output with theoretical output.
5. a) Do the suitable experiments to determine the transfer function of the given D.C generator.
b) Obtain the digital output of analog input using ADC by suitable experiment and verify the
practical output with theoretical output.
6. a) Obtain the root locus plot using MATLAB and comment about
stability for the unity feedback system given

Determine the range of K for stability using MATLAB.


b) Conduct experiment to measure the pressure using two transducer stages and draw input –
output determine the characteristics of transducer.
7. a) Write a program in MATLAB that will use an open loop transfer function G(s)

Obtain a bode plot and comment about stability.

b) By conducting suitable experiment measure the linear displacement using the transducer

Works in inductive transduction principle and draw its characteristics curve.
8. a) Obtain the time response of first order systems using P, PI, PID Controllers.

b) Perform suitable experiment to find the unknown self-inductance of the given inductors using

the bridge in which obtaining balance is easy for low Q coils.


9. a) Measure the consumption of power and power factor of a load and obtain the angle between the
voltage and current by conducting suitable experiment.
b) Find out the value of capacitance and its dissipation factor of the given capacitors using an
experiment with suitable AC bridge.

the angle between the voltage and current by conducting suitable experiment.
11.a) With suitable measurement obtain the analog outputs of the digital inputs using R-2R ladder

b) A meter which works with induction principle to measure the energy consumption of a
Single phase electrical load. Conduct suitable test on that meter to calibrate and calculate
the Percentage error.
