LARGEST WIND PROJECT OF ANY MANUFACTURER IN U.S.

BREAKS GROUND

Zotos International Celebrates Groundbreaking

of $7M, 3.3 MW Wind Energy Project
GENEVA, N.Y., Friday, September 24, 2010 — The largest wind project of any
manufacturing company in the United States officially broke ground today and is
expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Hair-care manufacturer Zotos International Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese

cosmetics giant Shiseido Co. Ltd. that manufactures hair-care and styling-aid products
under the Zotos, JOICO, ISO, and Senscience brand names, among others, celebrated the
official groundbreaking of its $7 million, 3.3 MW on-site wind power project at its
manufacturing plant in Geneva, N.Y. Hundreds of employees and supporters were on
hand for the celebration.

“This is truly a historic day, not only for Zotos as a company, but for Geneva as a
community, and our nation as a leader in the global, green economy,” said Anthony
Perdigao, vice president of plant operations at Zotos. “With this wind project — the
largest of any manufacturer in the US and a first in the beauty industry — Zotos is
leading the way toward a better, cleaner, more prosperous future for our children and
grandchildren.”

Geneva Mayor Stu Einstein said it’s important for the city to support the growth of local
companies, including Zotos, one of the largest employers in Ontario County and an
important manufacturer in Upstate New York.

“The City of Geneva is proud to support Zotos’ wind-energy project,” Einstein said. “Our
community is a strong proponent of renewable energy and understands the critical role it
plays in today’s global economy. Hopefully, our city’s support of the Zotos wind project
will pave the way for additional renewable energy investments in Geneva, Ontario
County, across the state and nationwide.”

Last year’s federal stimulus bill, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), is
covering 30 percent of the wind project’s costs. With this assistance, Zotos expects to
see a return on investment in less than five years.

According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Zotos’ project is the largest
wind project of any manufacturing company in the United States. The two-turbine project
is also the first wind project in Ontario County and the largest private industrial wind plan
in New York State. The project is comprised of two, 1,650 kW wind turbines that will
generate approximately 7,500 mWh of renewable energy every year.

The company is investing in wind power as part of a sustainability initiative aimed at

powering its 670,000-square-foot plant with 100% renewable energy by the end of 2011.
Studies show that more consumers are buying sustainable products and the company’s
wind project is critical to meeting this demand.

Zotos has been a success story for 80 years. Founded in 1929 as a manufacturer of
permanent hair dyes, Zotos is currently owned by Shiseido Americas Corp. and has more
than 360 full-time employees and 310 flex-time employees at its Geneva plant.

"Zotos International is not only a great contributor to the Central Finger Lakes economy
that has created hundreds of jobs in Geneva, but also a leader in exploring renewable
energy options in every aspect of its
operations,” said New York State Sen. Michael Nozzolio. “I have continually been
impressed with Zotos’ commitment to alternative energy technology, as exemplified by
the state-of-the-art wind energy project that will help the plant to obtain 100% of its
energy from renewable sources by the end of 2011. Having this home-grown renewable
energy source will keep jobs in New York State. It is my hope that other businesses in our
region will follow the example that Zotos International has set with their forward thinking
on renewable energy initiatives."

Added New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb: "New York needs more
private sector jobs and America needs to break its dangerous dependence on imported
foreign oil. This wind project advanced by Zotos International — the biggest such
initiative of any manufacturing business in America — meets both of these important
criteria. This project will grow local jobs and help meet the increasing demand for
energy that's produced cleaner, greener and domestically. It also showcases why our
Finger Lakes community is such a great place to live, work, invest and grow a business.”
