Preface

Industrial internship is a program, which is conducted to acquire practical knowledge. One can
acquire theoretical knowledge by learning only in a classroom. But generally there is a
significant gap between practical situation and theoretical knowledge. To bridge this gap,
practical experience is required to be achieved to match theoretical knowledge. One of the tried
and proven methods of bridging the gap is the internship program.

Metropolitan University arranges an internship program for 3 months for the fulfillment of BBA
program in every academic session. For this reason I was sent to acquire practical knowledge and
experience about General Banking of prime Bank Limited, Amberkhana Branch, Sylhet.

I have completed my Internship program in Prime Bank Limited, Amberkhana Branch, Sylhet,
under the guidance and supervision of my honorable supervisor Md. Rakeullah Chowdhury,
Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Administration, Metropolitan University.

I have tried my level best in preparing this report property. However, there may be some
unintentional errors in this report for which I beg apology.

program that I have completed, who help me without considering any business purpose and also
sharing his practical experience. I heartily thanks to all the members of Prime Bank Limited
Amberkhana Branch for their sincere co-operation and who helped me to learn about banking
during my three months internship. It would not be possible to prepare the internship report

 Executive Summary
In the last term of final year of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course, I was sent to
Prime Bank Ltd (PBL) to have a practical exposure on banking activities under the program
“General banking Activities of Prime Bank Limited”. PBL is a leading private commercial bank
which starts it operation on under Companies Act, 1994 on April, 1995. Through its countrywide
branch network, it is providing a comprehensive and competitive banking service to its clients.
With the starting the operation of PBL, the main branch continue its operation. Through its three
core departments, namely General Banking, Investment and Foreign Exchange, it provides all
kinds of banking service to its customers. Throughout my overall study I have mainly tried to
critically review the General Banking Activities of Prime Bank Limited Limited, Amberkhana
Branch.

General banking comprises of account opening, bills, remittance, clearing cash and accounts.
Through these sections it establishes banker customer relationship, collects bills for customers,
remit funds of customers from one place to another, honoring cheques drawn on this branch.
General Banking department provides these services in a faster and better manner.

First chapter, Introduction of the report focus on origin of the report, scope & objective of the
report, limitation of the report, methodology of the study etc. Second chapter of the report
focused on overview of banking industry. Third chapter focused on PBL, which contains history,
vision, mission, objective, product and services of PBL and so on. The fourth section focused the
project part which called “General Banking Activities of Prime Bank Limited”. The next two
chapters focused my 3 months internship experience which I learned from PBL Amberkhana
Branch as well as application of knowledge of BBA program which helps to accomplish my
tasks during internship. In the next chapter the SWOT analysis of PBL is focused. Last but not
the least I have given my observation and also try to recommend some solution to solve these
problem and conclusion based on my study. Through the report I mainly try to critically review
the General Banking Activities Amberkhana Branch of Prime Bank Limited.
