Why is English so well suited to being the lingua franca?

To begin with, the text is about the English Language as the lingua franca of
science. There are three speakers who explain their opinions and thoughts
about the reasons why English has become the lingua franca. Although they
have similar points of view, they focus on different aspects.

Firstly, Dr. Roberto Trotta talks about the simplicity of the English language as a
key point which makes it easier to learn basic structures. Although some
structures can be difficult, he points out that the conjugation of many verbs is
easier. According to him, this basic aspect of English allows an easier
communication between equals, especially when we talk about science. In
short, Dr. Robert Trotta states English has become the lingua franca for many
reasons but especially one: for practical reasons.

Secondly, the science writer George Zarkadakis pays special attention on the
point that English is a language spoken all over the world. The fact that different
groups of people which do not have anything in common speak English,
contribute to improve the language and enrich it in a high level. For this reason,
he also considers English as a group of languages which makes it really
popular. Little by little, English has become the most important language in the
world.

Thirdly, the scientist and writer Aarathi Prasad says that the western world has
been like the model for many scientists all over the world. However, she thinks
that English is not the only good language, scientifically speaking; as many
people from the Eastern World have also had great contributions to science but
using a different language. However, we should consider that English may be
replaced by Chinese in some years as it happened with Latin and French many
years ago when French people decided to start using their language in
publications.

Last but not least, we have to mention some keywords in the video, as for
