the trend for ever-increasing power
and efficiency for crop harvesting
we have developed a round baler
of a unique quality, as well as the
extra size of the bales produced.
The available types offer a wide
range of equipment and capacities
to meet the demands of all farmers
and contractors to suit all individual
requirements.
RP 505 SPECIAL
Even the RP 505 SPECIAL which is
the base of the range is fitted with
a 2.0m pick up and star type feed
rotor which provides a continuous
high capacity flow into the bale
chamber. POWERSPLIT gear drive
ensures a positive and reliable drive
under all operating conditions.
Control of all main functions are
operated from the tractor by
BALERCONTROL E.
RP 535
The RP 535 is fitted with a 2.25 m
wide pick-up, which gathers the wi-
dest of swaths leaving a clean field.
The crop is then transported via a
heavy two point rotor into the bale
chamber. The POWERSPLIT gearbox
divides the drive between the rotor
/pickup and the rollers/belts. All
operational functions are con-
troled by BALERCONTROL E.
RP 535 MASTER
In addition to the high specification
of the RP 535 the RP 535 MASTER
comes with HYDROFLEXCONTROL
as standard.
This feature allows blockages to be
cleared from the feed rotor without
leaving the tractor seat, which gives
increased work output.
Advanced electric hydraulic

Huge bale chamber – enormous capacity
With a diameter of 2.00 m and a
width of 1.23m the resulting volume
of nearly 4 m3 means weights of up
to 600 kg with wheat straw can be
produced. This is double that of so-
me competitors.
This reduces baling costs: and consi-
derably reduces the number of ba-
les, standing time is minimal and net
consumption is reduced. And finally,
field clearing time is also dramati-
cally reduced compared with other
balers.
Constant Pressure System –
highest possible
bale density
In most variable chamber round ba-
lers the specific area pressure of the
bale surface goes down with the in-
rease in bale diameter, this means
that with low power, low density is
the result.
The bale chamber on the
RP505/535 is designed so that the
specific area pressure on the bale
surface is constant from 1m to the
set bale diameter up to 2 m.
This is achieved by increasing the
belt tension in respect to the
increase in bale chamber
diameter.
Therefore a high compression of the
baled crop is achieved throughout
the bale diameter.
The hydraulic pressure for the densi-
ty is produced by an independent
system so there is no connection
between tractor hydraulics and the
baler for bale density. This system
gives simple settings of density with
no pre pressuring from the tractor
and allows the bale to be unwrap-
ped easily for bedding or feeders

The heavy duty main gearbox is
an integral part of the baler chassis
and the angular gears and transver-
se shafts are in one box. Each shaft
is capable of transmitting a high
amount of torque required ensuring
the gears, shafts and bearings
remain aligned even under the
heaviest of working conditions.
This avoids wear to these important
machine parts, resulting in a long
working life of all components and
less power requirement. This special
design allows a direct drive to the
feed rotor without the use of interme-
diate gears giving high efficiency.
Universal drive shaft
with cam type clutch
All RP 535 models come with a hea-
vy P.T.O. drive shaft with wide angle
joint and QS mounting on the trac-
tor end. A cam clutch with free
wheeling device is fitted to the baler
end. The QS coupler allows the ope-
rator to connect and disconect the
shaft quickly and easily. The cam
type clutch with free wheeling is the
most efficient safety device on the
market against overload. This type
of shaft can be supplied as an op-
tional extra for the RP 535 model.
Wide pick-up – 2.00 m fit-

A unique feature of these pickups
are that the tine bars are supported
with roller bearings and the cranked
tines are supported with a special
cushioning bracket. Pickup guide
wheels are fitted on both sides of
the machine and have a fine step
height adjustment. Wide feed au-
gers are capable of handling the
largest of swaths. The pickup has
hydraulic lift with relief springs
which reduces the pressure on the
guide wheels and maintains a preci-
se height with quick reaction on un-
even ground. All these features com-
bine to give a clean pickup of the
crop with minimal ground damage
and contamination.
Mechanical tailgate lock
One of the main features which
gives outstanding density with
Welger balers are the mechanical
tailgate locks.
Robust hooks and a unique release
linkage ensures that the tailgate
does not open before the operator
wants it.
HYDROFLEXCONTROL
In contrast to other round balers the
feeding channel floor is not rigidly
welded to the baler chassis but is
suspended with a flexible mounting.
With this innovative design the floor
can flex up or down slightly to allow
small stones or uneveness in the
swath to pass through thus avoiding
any blockages of the rotor. This fle-
xing of the feed table floor is a type
of safety device which reduces the
risk of damage to important machi-
ne components and therefore redu-
cing downtime in work.
The HYDROFLEXCONTROL floor can
also be opened and closed from the
tractor seat by two hydraulic rams.
This feature not only enables easy
access to changing or altering the
width of the cutting knives. Also, in
the case of a blockage the feed ta-
ble floor can be simply lowered al-
lowing the rotor to convey the crop
into the bale chamber without any
loss of crop. After only a few secon-
ds the driver can continue work.
The HYDROFLEXCONTROL system
is only available in Welger balers
and is far superior to reversing sy-
stems due to the speed in clearing
a blockage simply and quickly thus
reducing strain on the machine as
well as maintaining output.
