Abstract
A finite element analysis for a specific geometry, material and loading configuration gives a detailed
insight into physics for one setup. However, it is also important to identify influence parameters which
affect the design and results. Relationships between design parameters and simulation results can be
found out by performing a sensitivity analysis. With this additional information, engineers are able to
understand their designs to design and optimize the product according to specifications. The simulation
software ANSYS Workbench and optiSLang inside ANSYS enable to calculate a huge number of different
designs. The calculation time for a design point study which usually consists of more than 50 design
points can be considerably reduced by ANSYS Workbench. The elapsed time for a full sensitivity study
can be decreased by calculating many design points simultaneously to evaluate the results within short
time. The usage of a hardware platform designed for RDO is the basis for accelerating calculation. The
Fujitsu RDO environment possesses a powerful hardware infrastructure to calculate a large number of
simultaneous jobs.
This presentation shows the different possibilities for simultaneous calculation of design points using
ANSYS Workbench in combination with optiSLang. Additionally, the Fujitsu hardware infrastructure for
optimal RDO is explained. Studies will be shown to demonstrate the scaling behavior of the proposed
solutions.
