EJB A series enclosures are normally used in the chemical and
petrochemical plants, off-shore platforms, refineries and any other
industry where hazardous atmospheres
(gas and combustible dust) are potentially present.
The EJB A range has been designed to meet the main requirements
of power distribution, monitoring and signaling, and other electrical
functions inside the hazardous area of the plant.

 Function
The EJB A series can be used for the following main applications:
• control station and instrument housing;
• motor starter unit;
• lighting control panel;
• electronic grounding system;
• terminal and bus-bars box;
and fitted with other electrical and or electronic equipment as per client specifications.

Construction
The materials used to manufacture the EJB A series have been studied to grant the maximum protection
against the highly corrosive agents present in these industries:
• body and cover casted of copper-free (lower 0.1%) aluminium alloy;
• external epoxy powder coating RAL 7001;
• internal anticondensation coating (upon request);
• anti-loosening bolts and earthing screws of stainless steel AISI 316;
• gasket on cover of silicone;
• window of thermoresistant glass sealed with auto-leveling silicone;

The EJB AS series, is a special execution with aluminium body and cover in stainless steel limited to sizes
EJB 55 and EJB 7. The cover in stainless steel allows the installation of large window with max visible size of
mm. 400 x 300.

Supermec always pays special attention to on-site installation issues.

Introducing new EJB A series, we designed a special anti-loosening bolt to
make the job easier for maintenance staff.

The UH-UP operators are normally used in the chemical and
petrochemical plants, off-shore platforms, refineries and any other
industry where hazardous atmospheres (gas and combustible
dust) are potentially present.
The UH-UP operators range has been designed to meet the main
requirements of power distribution, monitoring and signaling, and
other electrical functions inside the hazardous area of the plant.

Function
The UH-UP operators are normally installed on EJB , GUB, GUBA and CSD enclosures series used for the following main applications:
• control station and instrument housing •motor starter unit
• electronic grounding system •lighting control panel
and fitted with other electrical and/or electronic equipment as per our client specific requirements.

Construction
The material used to manufacture the UH-UP operators series have been studied to grant the maximum protection against the highly
corrosive agents present in these industries:
• bushing and shaft, as components directly involved into the explosion proof protection, are made of stainless steel
AISI 316. The external body can be made of copper free aluminium or stainless steel
• external handles and internal leverages activating switches and breakers up to 1000 Amp. are made of stainless steel AISI 316
• external handles padlockable (two padlocks) in different position (upon request)
• internal gasket of silicone
• external push button units and pilot light diffusers are made using antistatic and UV-protected polymers
• external push button units have passed a mechanical endurance test of 15 million operation cycles (standard),
1 million (selector) and 300 thousands (emergency)
• contact blocks base can be equipped up to four contacts (NO, NC, NO+NC)
• diffuser with special design to grant a high visibility degree in any situation
• pilot light window of thermoresistant glass sealed with auto-leveling silicone
• integrated labels of polycarbonate, aluminium and stainless steel with possibility to customize the marking as per client specifica-
tions

To grant the possibility for the client to solve easily any problem of maintenance and/or modification of the functions, the coloured
push button caps and pilot light lens are easily removable without the risk to reduce the explosion proof protection. This operation
has to be handled by responsible working staff so to assure the reinstatement of the electrical and visual functionality of the control
modified. The coloured caps and lens are available in different colours and can be engraved with electrical symbols as per below tables.

 UVB - UVD
The UV drain valves and breathers are normally used in the
chemical and petrochemical plants, off-shore platforms, refineries
and any other industry where hazardous atmospheres (gas and
combustible dust) are potentially present.
The drain valves and breathers are specially recommended
for tropical environment where the phenomenon of water
condensation mixed with chemical agents is the first cause of
corrosion of electrical components inside the enclosures.

Function
The UV drain valves and breathers are normally installed on Ex d and Ex e enclosures. Both models UVB and
UVD can be used as a combination drain and breather. The UVB model is equipped with internal o-ring to
allow an IP66 protection to the enclosure when not in use.

Construction
The material used to manufacture drain valves and breathers UV series have been studied to allow the
maximum protection against the highly corrosive agents present in these industries:
• bushing and shaft, as components directly involved into the explosion proof protection, are made of
stainless steel AISI 316
• internal o-ring of silicone
• external gasket of silicone
• adaptor for thin wall enclosures (≤ 8 mm.) and locknut of stainless steel AISI 316

The UVB - UVD has a double marking Ex d and Ex e to be suitable for every
kind of installation.
Since Ex e enclosures are normally build with thin walls, Supermec
designed a special adaptor to allow the full discharging of water within
a range of 0.8 to 8 mm. wall thickness. An external gasket allows an IP66
protection when the drain valve is not in use.

 Methods of installation
The installation of drain valve on
bottom and breather on top side of
enclosure is granting the most com-
plete solution against water conden-
sation since the continuous ventila-
tion minimizes the phenomena.
The internal pressure is pushed out-
side through the breather (chimney
effect) limiting the possible entry of
rain from the top.

The sole installation of valve at the bottom with

the combined function of drain and breather is
giving, anyway, a good result and since the wa-
ter penetration is practically impossible due to
installation point, the IP66 protection is guaran-
teed also with the UVD model (always open).
