I obtained my General Social Sciences and Education degrees from the University of Lethbridge. During this time, I have completed
three professional semesters where I focused on teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. I would be comfortable and would
enjoy teaching English Language Arts or Social Studies at any level, as well as a variety of other subjects.

I firmly believe that I have been and will be an excellent fit within any school as can be attested to by my previous teacher associates
and mentors. I further believe that I am a great candidate for two primary reasons: 1) my dedication to the success of every student and
toward their overall educational experience, and 2) my personal efforts, accomplishments, and attitude towards high achievement in every
facet of my responsibilities as an educator.

In addition, I have excellent computer skills; I am energetic, organized, and have very well developed communication skills. I have
demonstrated an ability to work well in a team environment through both my work experience and extracurricular activities.

I strongly believe that students learn best through hands on learning and that teachers should be facilitators of learning and knowledge. By
giving students opportunities to experience hands-on learning, they are able to develop their critical thinking skills which will help in
producing lifelong learners. I think it is important to give students opportunities to work independently and within group settings, which is
why having a positive and respectful classroom climate is of the utmost importance to me as an educator.

Allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge multiple times and through multiple modalities is a way that will allow
every student within my classroom to experience success and to demonstrate their understanding of course material. This will give all
students opportunities to grow as learners within my classroom. Wherever possible, I hope to give my students variety and choice when
completing projects, and having formative assessments early and often to ensure success.

In order for students to experience an engaged learning environment from all aspects of their lives, I believe that parent communication is
essential for student success. This is why I believe in sending home email updates to parents to ensure they are informed about classroom
assignments, assessments, and the topics we will be learning and discussing.

I am a firm believer of creating strong relationships with my students, and have experienced success by bonding with my students
throughout my practicums. Students will respond better to curriculum and to education when they feel they are being listened to, cared for,
and respected within the classroom environment. This is an area of strength for me as an educator and I believe that this will allow me to
succeed within any school environment.

My qualifications include:

 Bachelor of Arts in General Social Sciences with a focus on History, Economics and Psychology;
 Bachelor of Education;
 Three professional semesters teaching Social Studies and English Language Arts;
 Curriculum and Instruction classes for both Social Studies and English Language Arts;
 Excellent organization skills and adaptability to new situations;
 The use of Performance Based Assessment; and
 Making Thinking Visible tactics
