SENIOR CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR {SCWI}, Training Program

in India
IQC, Chennai has been conducting successfully seminar and examination for Certified Welding
Inspectors since 1994. IQC has successfully conducted more than 170 CWI programs in India,
Dubai, Nigeria, Singapore, Qatar & Abu Dhabi, from 1994 onwards, with the participation of
around 6000 candidates.

Today there are many Certified Welding Inspectors with experience who want to upgrade as
Senior Certified Welding Inspectors. Realising this need, IQC Training & Services Pvt. Ltd.
Chennai is organizing Seminar and Examination for SCWI in India, since June 2001. More than
50 programs have been conducted, with the participation of around 600 candidates. All the
programs conducted so far by IQC Training & Services Pvt. Ltd., Chennai were sweeping
successes with 80 - 100% success rates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (SCWI):

Each applicant for certification as a Senior Certified Welding Inspector

1.Shall be high school graduate (must have passed 10th examination or equivalent

2. Shall have not less than fifteen years experience in welding related activities such
as design, production, QA, QC, inspection & testing, NDT etc

3. Shall have not less than twelve years experience, for degree / diploma holders

4. Shall have been responsible for the supervision of one or more QC, QA and NDE
personnel

5. Shall have been certified as an AWS - CWI for a minimum of six years, in the
previous 8 years.

6. A candidate can participate in the SCWI exam, even if his CWI certificate has
expired, but within 2 years of the expiry date of the CWI certificate.. It is not
necessary that the candidate should have valid CWI certificate at the time of
participating in the SCWI program.

7. Completed scanned copy of AWS-SCWI Exam Application with all documents should
be sent to IQC (iqc.in.org@gmail.com). IQC will review the same and advise the
candidate for any modification. IQC will forward the application documents to AWS and
get the ATT letter from AWS. Original documents to be submitted to IQC on the first day
of the seminar

EXAMINATION & CERTIFICATION

The AWS-SCWI examination consists of TWO Tests: Part A : Technical Fundamentals
and Part B : Administrative Fundamentals. Both parts are open book examinations.

AWS has made the SCWI examinations as computer based testing at any Prometric
Centre. On submission of SCWI exam application and exam fee, AWS will issue
Authorisation To Test (ATT) Letter. Based on the information in the ATT letter, the
candidate can fix the timing and date of exam at any Prometric centre of his choice.

For SCWI candidates scoring 72% (average) and above, AWS will award the Certificate
as Senior Certified welding Inspector. For scoring less than 72%, no certificate is
issued.

AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspectors Certificate for those who pass the examination.

Seminar Fees in Indian Rupees shall be made as crossed DD in favour of IQC Training and
Services Pvt. Ltd., payable at any scheduled bank in Chennai.
