1) 150 workers were engaged to finish a piece of work in a certain number of days. Four workers
dropped on the second day, four more workers dropped on third day and so on. It takes 8 more
days to finish the work now. Find the number of days in which the work was completed.

2) If the numbers a, b, c, d, e form an A.P., then find the value of : a – 4b + 6c – 4d + e [3 marks]

3) Hulk positions himself at the Origin of the Cartesian co-ordinate axes, ready for jumps. He jumps
twice as much distance each time (taking him away from the origin) along the line:
3 x −y √ 3 = 0 . Find the distance between between the starting points of his 5th and 6th jumps.
Also find the difference between the 'y' co-ordinates of the ending points of his 5th and 6th jumps.
Assume any needed data not given in the question. [4 marks]

4) Give co-ordinates of any 2 points A and B on the line x+2 y = 5 such that the line y = 2
divides AB in the ratio 1 : 3 [3 marks]

5) A manufacturing company M sells a laptop to a distributor D for Rs. 22000 including sales tax.
The distributor D sells it to a retailer R for Rs. 21750 excluding tax and the retailer sells it to a
consumer for Rs. 23400 plus tax. If the rate of sales tax (under VAT) is 10%, find:

◦ The cost price of the laptop for the distributor D.

◦ The amount of tax (under VAT) paid by D.
◦ The amount of tax (under VAT) paid by R.
◦ The amount of tax received by the State Government on the sale of this laptop. [4 marks]
