1. Start up

1.1. Confirming items

‘order-it lite PC kit’ contains the following items.

PC preinstalled order-it lite software

AC adapter for PC
AC cable of C type plug (note: other type plugs are not included)
IC card reader (Main body, stand and USB cable)
License card/Administrator card

1.2. Other necessary Items (which are not included in this kit)
For starting up of ‘order-it lite PC kit’, prepare the following items.

Display
Keyboard
Mouse
Media reader

1.3. PC setting
Now connect all peripherals to PC.

PC IC card reader
Display, keyboard, mouse, media reader

And connect power supply to PC. Finally switch the PC on.

After Windows has been started order-it kiosk software will start automatically and ask you for product
activation – please refer to the next chapter.

2. Product activation

2.1. Workflow of product activation

order-it can be activated either manually or when order-it is started for the first time on a new kiosk.

The easier way is to perform the activation which is automatically invoked during the first start or order-
it. In this case please go to step 4.

If you wish to activate order-it manually however, follow at first steps 1 to 3:

Step 1:

Starting from the Windows desktop click on the [My Computer] button in order to start the Windows
Explorer.

Step 2:

Navigate to the ‘C:\Program Files\software.house\DI\Kiosk’ directory.

Step 3:

Double click the ‘activate-it’ item in the file list (see above).

Step 4:

A window is opened and you are asked to insert a valid order-it license card into the card reader slot.

As soon as you have inserted the license card the following dialog is displayed:

Step 7:

Please press the [Activate] button.

After a short moment the activation has been completed and you will see the following message:

Please withdraw the license card and note the Terminal ID of the kiosk for which it has been used.

Please note: It is possible that you need the license card once again at a later date.
Be advised to keep the license card in a safe place!

2.2. Frequently asked questions regarding

product activation of order-it

2.2.1. Do I really have to activate my copy of order-it?

Yes. If you do not activate, order-it will not run or will run only until the expiration date of the current
version.

2.2.2. How often do I have to activate order-it?

In general you have to activate order-it only once. But the exception proves the rule (see below).

2.2.3. Do I have to activate again when I update to a new order-it version?

Usually not – but in rare cases it could happen that a new release requires again activation.

2.2.4. Will the license card work with more than one order-it kiosk?
No. Each kiosk will need its own license card. If you try to activate order-it on another kiosk with an
already used license card the activation will not be possible.

2.2.5. How if I need to recover order-it from an already stored backup or hard drive
image?
No problem. Just use the license card which has already been used with this kiosk and activate order-it
once.

3. First steps with your order-it

After order-it has been activated, you can start right away placing some test orders. order-it comes with
a comprehensive number of preconfigured products like photobooks, photos, calendars, greeting cards
and much more.

Now in the beginning all printing devices have been set to “demo mode” therefore you do not need to
connect a real printing device for your first tests.

However – of course you can connect a Frontier, one ore more ASK printers, a Phaser or an Epson
large format printer.
