TO PRACTICE MEDICINE AND SURGERY :

IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY

This matter was opened to the State Board of Medical Examiners

{"Board") upon t h e filing of a Verified Complaint and an Order to

Show Cause on August 6 , 2 0 0 4 , with a r e t u r n d a t e of August 11,

2004. The Verified Complaint charged t h a t Respondent, Dr. Dean A .

ambrose's continuing practice of medicine p r e s e n t e d a clear and

imminent danger to the public. Respondent sought an adjournment of

the return d a t e of the Order to Show Cause until, or before, t h e

next Board meeting, presently scheduled for September 8, 2 0 0 4 , and

agreed to voluntarily s u r r e n d e r his license to p r a c t i c e medicine

until t h e matter is heard. Respondent further represented that he

would appear at the Physicians‘ Health Program of the Medical

Society of New Jersey ( “ P H P ” ) on August 11, 2 0 0 4 to undergo u r i n e

and hair testing for psychoactive substances.

The Board, finding t h e within disposition to be adequately

protective of the public health, safety and welfare,

IT IS, therefore, on this 12th day of August, 2 0 0 4 ,

ORDERED that:

2. Dean A . Ambrose, D . O . is hereby granted leave and shall

immediately voluntarily surrender his l i c e n s e to practice medicine

and surgery in t h e S t a t e of New Jersey pending the disposition of

t h e Order to Show Cause or f u r t h e r Order of the Board.

2. Dr. &&rose shall appear at the PHP on August 11, 2 0 0 4 to

undergo u r i n e and hair testing.

3. Dr. mrose shall arrange for a letter of representation

to be sent to Siobhan B. Krier, DAG at 124 Halsey Street, Fifth

Floor, P . 0 . Box 4 5 0 2 9 , Newark, New Jersey 0 7 1 0 2 as soon as he has

obtained counsel.

4. Counsel f o r Respondent, or D r . Ambrose himself, if he

should f a i l to retain c o u n s e l , shall file an A n s w e r to t h e Verified

Complaint with t h e Beard no later than f i v e ( 5 ) days before the

retLl-n date for t h e O r d e r to Show Cause.
