ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would like to the people at F.Tech R&D for accepting me as an intern and
giving me the opportunity to learn new things throughout the Engineering world.
Another thanks is given to my professor, Engineer Pacis, for his unwavering support on
my OJT class and being able to answer any questions that I have. Lastly, I wanted to
thank my wife, Alyssa Lizardo, and son, Eleandre Lizardo, for being my inspiration to
push through every day.

ABSTRACT OF THE PROJECT

The On-the-Job training (OJT) final documentation report contains the

credentials and records of the trainee’s work experience at F. Tech R&D in Laguna,
Technopark for 240 hours. This paper includes the ability and skills acquired by the
student from the work experience. These said skills and other learning can help the
trainee in preparation for his/her future career in the field of Electrical Engineering. The
documentation will also prove how the OJT is an effective training method for the
trainee.

The technical training that was provided for the trainee is focused on testing,
analysing, and designing using CATIA software which is a useful tool when creating
powerlines, powerplants, towers, and the so on; also, the trainee assisted the
Engineering and Admin office of the company. Whereas non-technical training that was
learned by the trainee are mostly: filing of papers and encoding on Excel. The training is
supervised by Engineer Balbar and Engineer Esperida for the design group and Engineer
Doblon and Engineer Andrada for the testing/analysis group. Finally, the documentation
has samples of work done using the CATIA software and a few other reports.

COMPANY PROFILE - INTRODUCTION

THE HISTORY OF F.TECH R&D PHILIPPINES

F.tech R&D Philippines, Inc. (FRDP) is a Japanese firm and a PEZA registered
enterprise engaged in IT based research and development of automotive parts such as
pedals, clutches and other underbody products for major car manufacturers, in
cooperation with other development branches of the F.tech group. FRDP was
established in July 29, 2008 and its commercial operations started in November 2008.

F.tech R&D Philippines, Inc (FRDP) is one of the subsidiary companies of F.tech
Group, with head office based in Japan. The F.tech Group is a supplier and contractor
of all automotive processes from development to mass production of auto-mobile parts
for major car manufacturers such as Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi and overseas
manufacturer General Motors. The products that our company group manufactures are
important safety parts that mainly control the protection of customers. To develop these
products, our mother company in Japan financed the 100% establishment of its
subsidiary in the Philippines, under the name of F.tech R&D Philippines, Inc.

FRDP’s contribution to automotive safety changes greatly by the way it was

developed. To keep pace with the global market demands in the Car Manufacturing
Industry, it is important for our associates to enhance their technical skills by learning
and applying the necessary information involving development and testing processes,
through local and overseas on-the-job training and development program.

COMPANY SUCCESS FACTORS

F.Tech's greatest strength and what distinguishes us from other manufacturers is

the central position of our R&D Department and their collaboration with other
departments to create unique and advanced technology. First, research and
development are conducted in collaboration between the Development Department and
the Engineering Department. Then, the results from that research enter the product
development stage, and the product undergoes individual and combined testing.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

 Design

We create product ideas and 3D models using 3D CAD system based on

client / F.tech’s requirements. We also convert these 3D models into product
drawings and others.

 Analysis

We evaluate the strength, durability and manufacturability of the product

using various analysis software performing linear, non-linear and formability
simulation on the 3D model created by the DESIGN group.

 Test

We conduct performance test using strength/durability test machines and

various measuring equipment on the product manufactured based on the
designed drawing to guarantee the safety and performance for the customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TRAINEE

The job of an intern at the company is to basically learn everything from

the Engineers and how they do their jobs.

For the first part, which is the testing/analysis part, the intern is tasked to
learn proper set-up of equipment and test the materials needed (i.e. clutch or
brakes). The use of the software DEWEsoft is applied to test the data gathered
from the tests.

For the second and last part, which is the designing part, the intern is
tasked with a lot of exercise to familiarize himself on the CATIA software which is
primarily used for designing surfaces, parts, and the like.

NARRATIVE REPORT

TECHNICAL LEARNING

The Engineering department is split into two factions or cohort: the

testing/analysis and the design group; because of this, my internship was halved
into two parts.

The first part is the testing/analysis part, where I get to set-up equipment
needed for the testing. There are a lot of tests done on a pedal (i.e. switch
installation strength test or switch connector installation strength) and it requires
specific set-ups for each one. After setting up, we use the software called
DEWEsoft which is used to acquire high-end data and will provide for us the total
test measurements with little to no discrepancy.

The second part is the design part which taught me how to use the
software CATIA which is responsible for most of the designs on automobiles. I
learned how to make a solution to shape design, styling, surface workflow and
visualize my creation. This software supports multiple stages of product design
whether started from scratch or from 2D sketches (blueprints). This is a very
helpful tool since I specialize in the Petroleum Refining Technology and I will
handle or maybe create powerplant specifications or tower structures and the
like.

NON-TECHNICAL LEARNING

For the non-technical aspect of the job, it is mostly executing word files,
filing documents, and a little bit about Excel encoding.
