‘The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) presents its compliments 10 the
exmanent Missicn of Turkey 10 the OSCE and would hke fo vase ls ewareness about the
following: The OSCE PA has been informed by the Turkish Permanent Representative 10
the OSCE in Vieuns that Turkish authorities have decided to deny the enty into Turkey of|
Andie) Honko from Germany and Amin Jabar from Sweden, two Members af the OSCE
Parliamentary Asiembly's observer mission to the 24 Tune Presider and Parliamentary
sections.
While acknowledging the basi right of any county to refuse acces fo its teitory,
the OSCE PA expresses is disappointment that this step taken ty the Turkish authorities
impacts negatively on the work ofthe International Observer Mission. Members and Staff
‘of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly who are taking part in OSCE PA activities in a
Participating State, following an invitation by the country’s authorities, must be able to
perform their tc. According to standard OSCE election observation methodology, the
‘country that has imvited the OSCE PA to observe should not ~ divetly of indirectly —
influence the composition of the Mission. The OSCE PA deplores that the denial of entry to
the two PA memters is reportedly based on their publicly expressed political opinions,

previously communicated will continue to be Members of the OSCE PA observation
