Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act.

education in public schools to be decided at the local school district level.
Further, the Virginia PTA supports the inclusion of the National Crime Prevention
Councils materials in those suggested for use by local districts.
POLICY STATEMENT #3:

to School program to encourage and enable students walking and bicycling to
and from school where feasible.

• Kelly Faulkner reviewed Promotion Opportunities.

1. Harris Teeter - last year we had 362 people linked and earned almost
$1500.00. This year we have linked over 657 people. We will have several
Link Your VIC card campaigns at several Harris Teeter locations throughout
the year.
2. Box Tops - we earned almost $1000.00 last year in cutting and collecting box
tops from popular consumer products. This year we plan to collect more and
ask parents to register with BOXTOPS4EDUCATION.com and shop at the Box
Tops Marketplace for all their online shopping needs.
3. Box Top Marketplace is a great new way to raise money for our school
through getting local businesses to partner with us. We would like Purchasing
Managers to agree to shop through BoxTops4Education.com and choose our
school to link with.
4. Target Red Card was mentioned as another our school could earn money
through purchases made with the Target Red Card.
• Allyson Poutasse invited all parents to visit the tables in the cafeteria to learn about
the programs the PTA sponsors and to sign up to be on one of the committees.
