Research Design

The study aimed to identify the efficacy of Social Media Platforms in empowering the

Parent-Teacher Community Association in Tipas National High School, San Juan, Batangas. It

employed the method of random sampling technique and will utilize the survey and experimental

method of data collection through the conduct of activities and programs which are social-media-

platform-based. It will involve 20 parents from Grade 7-8 and 20 teachers of Tipas National

High School, S.Y. 2018 – 2019. The researcher will analyze and interpret the data collected from

the program.

It is according to Grove (2013) that a research design as “a blueprint for conducting a

study with maximum control over factors that may interfere with the validity of the findings. It is

also a plan that describes how, when and where data are to be collected and analyzed and an

overall for answering the research question or testing the research hypothesis”.

This study utilized the descriptive type of research particularly the questionnaire were

given as treatment. It is an attempt to obtain data and facts about the efficiency of Social Media

Platforms on empowering community of Parent-Teacher Association.

This qualitative design, according to Parahoo (2015) involves the description, recording,

analysis and interpretation of the present nature, composition or processes of phenomena. The

focus is on prevailing conditions, or how a person, group or thing behaves or functions in the

present while the quantitative design will involve survey questionnaire.


Subjects of the Study

There will be 40 respondents of the study of which are 20 parents and 20 teachers. The

twenty parents are parents of students in Tipas National High School and the twenty teachers are

teachers of the mentioned school, S. Y. 2018-2019. They were chosen through the purposive

sampling technique.

Data Gathering Instrument and Procedure

The main instrument in this study is the questionnaire corresponding to the perceptions of

respondent to the community of PTA members towards social media platforms. The

questionnaire serves as pre and post assessment tool relative to the efficacy of social media

platforms in developing warm community among PTA members. The questionnaire contains

sub-variables such as behavior, environment/platforms, and purpose. While the other is the social

media platforms to be used in the experimental phase. The researcher will use questionnaire to

facilitate feedbacks about efficiency of social media platforms in the community of Parent-

Teacher Association. Strict compliance to the confidentiality and secrecy of the data collected

are employed to guard the delicate information gathered by the researcher.
