1) Compose two 1 or 2 measure drum groove using 3 part notation,
hi-hat or cymbal, snare and kick. Notate the first groove as 8 measures, then adding to the first groove notate the second groove as 8 measures. Do not use any repeats and use a ruler to ensure straight lines.
2) Using Garageband or Reason sequence your groove, so that is will be
16 measures in it’s entirety. Each instrument should be on a different track, so you will have a 3 track sequence.
3) Find the FIX TIME or QUANTIZE option and make sure that your groove is in time. This is in the Edit section of Garageband.
4) Using the “Share” drop-down, send to iTunes and reformat as an MP3
if is in a different file format.
5) Submit the MP3 to Inside Berklee.
6) Bring the notated part to class. We will be listening to everyone’s
project in class and this is considered part of your grade.
