PROTOCOL MANUAL
I. DEFINITIONS
Protocol is the conduct of procedure employed during functions to respect ranks of guest, to
established precedence, to rules of etiquette and good taste, and to fulfill task wisely for successful
conclusion satisfactory to all.
Procedure in respecting rank and establishing precedence must be in accordance with type of
function.
B. In internal functions, national and local officers rank immediately after local president if
function is of local nature.
E. Wives of honored guest should be placed in same order as their husbands but on opposite
sides of local chairman or president.
F. The mayor (or governor) or representative of local government takes precedence over all
others, except local chairman or president. He sits on left hand side of Chairman or
President while Guest of Honor and Guest Speaker sits on right hand of Chairman or
President.
G. Seat in the principal presidential table may be in odd number (5, 7, 9, or 11) with local
chairman or president seating at center, National and local officers may be spread out or
an additional secondary presidential table added to accommodate all.

TIME – Host JCI members must be prompt to receive guests and visiting JCI members. They
should be there at least 30 minutes before official start. Function must proceed on
time, and on time.
JCI PRAYER/INVOCATION AND CREED. There is no need to make the sign of the cross at Jaycee
Prayer/Invocation. If invocation is not the JCI Prayer, ask everybody to stand. There is no need to raise
the hand at recitation of JCI Creed which must be recited by memory and in unison. Ask only the JCI to
stand.
INTRODUCTION OF THE GUEST AND VISITING JCI MEMBERS – A list of guest and visiting JCI
must be legible for proper introduction. Guest at the presidential table (except Guest Speaker) must be
introduced first. The Guest Speaker will be introduced just before he speaks.

CHARGING OF OFFICERS. – The charging of officers is appropriately the function of the RVP.
INDUCTEES – The inductees must promptly file at center of function hall as soon as their names are
called, and to be furnished copies of oath of office of the LO.
GUEST SPEAKER/GUEST OF HONOR – The NOM President is the appropriate person to be the
Guest Honor and Speaker or in the event that another person has been invited as Guest Speaker, to
be the Guest of Honor with time to deliver a speech.
FORM: Delegates must come to area conference and national conventions in their
best form in attending the Parade, Opening Ceremonies, Fellowship and Ball.
During plenary sessions and awards ceremonies they should be in barong
tagalog or any acceptable formal attire.
MEAT: Delegates must have prepared and accomplished during the last 12 months to
bring home the meat of area conferences and national convention which are:

A. The arrival of a JCI/JCIP dignitary may be acknowledged at any part of the function.
B. In recognition of his presence, the parliamentary rules in the meetings may be suspended to
give him time to be properly introduced and to deliver his message, remarks or talk.
C. If there is another person invited as Guest Speaker, the JCI/JCIP dignity sits to the immediate
right of the Guest Speaker, and be given the role of guest of honor, to be properly introduced
and to deliver a speech.
D. The NOM Secretary General must prepare the following things in time for the visit of the JCI
dignitary, as follows:

XI. FORMS OF ADDRESSES: Since the relationship between correspondences affects the form of
address used in letter, no rigid guidelines can be set down for all occasions. The following generally
accepted forms, in seven categories, have been selected as those most likely to be encountered. And
that the formal address of “Madam” may be substituted for “Sir” and the formal address of “Mrs.” or
“Miss” or “Ms” may be substituted for “Mr.”
