5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1.1 Before commencement of any conduit installation, the following are required to be
carried out:
5.1.1.1 Check the conduits & accessories to be installed and details are as indicated on an
approved shop drawing / site condition.
5.2.1 Location of PVC circular junction boxes or other junction boxes as per approved
shop drawings will be marked on the shutter when it is made ready.
5.2.2 All such junction boxes will be fixed with nails on the shutter based on the
marking and Continuous conduiting will be carried out with standard conduit
lengths, couplers etc.
5.2.3 Where bends or offsets are required, the straight conduits will be manually bent
using suitable helical bend spring to the required radius.
5.2.4 Wherever conduits and accessories are required to be jointed, solvent cement will
be used.
5.2.5 Expansion couplers will be used where conduit crosses structure expansion
joints.(If applicable)
5.2.6 Entire runs of conduits will be tied to the reinforcement bars firmly with tie-wire
in Order to avoid movements during concreting.
5.2.7 After de-shuttering, all conduits and boxes will be cleaned and checked to
commence the wiring.
5.2.8 All conduits concealed into the block work, plaster will be covered along the
entire Lengths.
5.2.9 Pull boxes shall be provided where conduit run is more than 15 meters or
subjected to more than 2 no’s 90 degree bends.
5.2.10 Thermocol shall be provided in walls before shuttering and casting to avoid
chipping at successive stages for final fixture location adjustment.
5.2.11 Thermocol are cut into required size and to be inserted into correct location.
5.2.12 Fix Thermocol to the wall structural steel at the correct location and level of
services as per approved shop drawing.
5.2.13 Conduits are cut at right angle and desired length. Ensure the Conduit
installations are in straight line.
5.2.14 Cutting and chasing to be done as per the marked locations for the service
drops and fix the conduit.
5.2.15 Attendance during concrete pouring shall be provided to ensure that conduits
and boxes are not displaced.

reamer together with any dirt, oil or paint, which may be present.
5.3.6 Where required conduits of size 20mm and 25mm shall be bend to the required
radius using manual bending machines.
5.3.7 Check all mechanical connections are internally smooth for pulling wiring in no
burrs or sharp edge will be allowed.
5.3.8 Spacer bars are fixed in regular interval not exceeding 1.2m and the distance from
either side of any box.
5.3.10 All terminal boxes are marked on the appropriate location (i.e. wall or ceiling) as
per approved shop drawing and fixed with metal screws and plugs.
5.3.11 Suitable braze bushes are used where conduit enters the boxes to avoid any
