Assessment Map
Assessment Description
Entry-level: Question: Where is Rome?
To begin the lesson, students will locate
Discussion of Maps Rome on a world map. Students will then be
given a map to highlighting the entire Roman
Empire.
Formative: During the lessons lecture /powerpoint
presentation, students will be asked
Questions to Check for understanding information about that has recently been
introduced to them to check for understanding
and increase retention of information.
Students will be picked randomly to answer
questions and will be allowed to “phone a
buddy” if they are not sure of the answer.
Formative: Students will be given a Semi-completed
timeline for them to fill in the blanks with
Timeline events discussed during the lesson. This
timeline will be collected to ensure
completion but used as a study tool for
quizzes and as a guide of events for writing
essays on the topic.
Formative: Students will complete the following
questions on an Exit Slip and turn them in
before the end of the class period.
Exit Slip 1) Something I Learned today is…
2) Two things I found interesting…
3) I still have questions about…
Formative: Students will design a postcard as a Historical
figure discussed during the lesson and
Post Card describe a significant event.

Summative: Create a Picture collage. Students will sign up


for a topic to build a picture collage. Students
Project Rome Collage will present the collage to groups in class.

Summative: Using the graphic organizer / Venn Diagram,


students will organize and write a compare
Essay and contrast essay.
