1 Introduction

Welcome to the OpenEdge 10.2A Service Pack Hotfix Installation Guide. This guide explains how to install the
latest OpenEdge service pack hotfix.
Use the following graphic to review the installation process flow:

2 Pre-Installation Steps

Use the following instructions to complete steps that are required before you install the service pack hotfix.

2.1 Verify Current Service Pack Level

The OpenEdge 10.2A Service Pack 03 must be installed prior to installing this hotfix. Use these steps to verify
you have the most current 10.2A Service Pack installed.

1. Select Start > Programs > OpenEdge10.2A > Version Info.

2. Review the Versions Information to verify that Service Pack 03 is listed.

2.2 Download Service Pack Hotfix File

Use the following instructions to download the appropriate service pack hotfix file.

1. Log on to EPICweb and go to the Customer Portal Page. Navigate to Support > Epicor 9 > Downloads.
Note You can use this link:https://epicweb.epicor.com/Support/epicor9/Downloads

2. Navigate to Version 9.05.600 > Third Party Products > OpenEdge > 10.2A.

3. Based on your environment, download the latest OpenEdge hotfix file onto your machine. For example,
download one of the following files:
• Windows 32: Rl102asp0323hf.EXE
• Windows 64: Rl102asp0323hf-64.EXE

2.3 Stop the AppServers, Database, AdminService

Use the following instructions to stop the AppServers, database and AdminService.
Important Do not skip this step.

1. Make sure that all users log out of the Epicor application.

2. Select Start > Programs > OpenEdge 10.2A > Progress Explorer Tool. Use the Progress Explorer Tool
to stop the following functions in order:
• Stop the Appservers.

• Stop the OpenEdge database.

3. Select Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. The Services window appears.

4. Right-click AdminService, and select Properties. The AdminService dialog box appears. On the General
tab, click Stop. Click OK.

3 Install the Service Pack Hotfix

Use the following instructions to install the service pack hotfix.

3.1 Install the Service Pack Hotfix

1. Double-click the file you downloaded previously. The installation program opens.

2. The Welcome window appears. Click Next.

3. Click OK to confirm you have stopped the OpenEdge related functions.


Note If you have not stopped the AppServer, database and AdminServices functions, click No and
then stop the functions before continuing.

4. Select the OpenEdge 10.2A directory as your Destination directory. For example, select C:\Epicor\oe102A.
Click Next.

5. The Ready to Install window appears. Click Next. The installation proceeds.

6. Click Finish. Depending on your selection, the files appear for review.

4 Post-Installation Steps

Use these instructions to complete tasks required after the installation.


Important Do not skip this step.

4.1 Edit the PF File (SQL Server and SQL Unicode only)

Use these steps to edit the PF file with necessary information for this hotfix. These steps are for SQL Server and
SQL Unicode only.

1. Open the PF file that relates to your Epicor application database.

2. Verify that the following parameters are listed exactly as shown:


• PRGRS_NATIVE_LOCKWAIT, 30000
This number must be 30000, not any other number.
• ,PRGRS_NOWAIT_OVERRIDE,1
Add this parameter to the end of the -Dsrv line. It starts with a comma.

3. If you have more than one database, repeat these steps on each PF file related to each database.

4.2 Restart the App Servers

Use these steps to restart the app servers.

1. Select Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. The Services window appears.

2. Right-click AdminService, and select Properties. The AdminService dialog box appears. On the General
tab, click Start. Click OK.

3. Select Start > Programs > OpenEdge 10.2A > Progress Explorer Tool. Use the Progress Explorer Tool
to start the following functions in order:
• Start the OpenEdge database.
• Start the Appservers.

The Service Pack Hotfix installation is now complete.
