India's population

India is a country located in south asia, is the seventh biggest country in the world. Its population is
overwhelmingly large as India"s population consists of over 1.31 billion people which is a near
amount compared to china that is around 1.37billion. India's population continues to grow at a fast
pace and soon will likely to overtake china. Around 41% of India's population are below the age of
18, meaning that approximately half the countries population are teenagers. What's more 13% live in
a single parent household, mostly living with mothers.
Problems children face in India
A countless number of children go missing every year. There are a category of reasons
children go missing which includes abduction or kiddnapping, run-away children or children
forced to run away from the difficult and harsh environment they live in. On average 44,000
children are reported to be missing every year and 11,000 remain untraced.
Orphanage in India
0.3% out of 20 million of the orphans, are children whose parents have died. The high
proportion of the abandoned children highlights the fact that poverty is the major reason
behind the situation. Study revealed that states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West
Bengal had more orphans than India’s richer states. Generally, the country's central and
eastern regions were found to be worse affected than the north and the south.
