INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization, with 192
Member States. Created in 1923, it facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and
assists all organizations, authorities, and services whose mission is to prevent or combat
international crime. INTERPOL is now looking for one qualified candidate as
Coordinator I - Checkit within the Operational Support and Analysis Directorate.

Tests/interviews in connection to this selection procedure will take place approximately 2 weeks after

Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two months after receiving an
offer of employment at the latest.

This selection exercise will be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that will be used
to address Organization's staffing needs in the future.

INTRODUCTION OF POST

The Coordinator I-Checkit will work under the supervision of the Director of the Operational Support
& Analysis Directorate (OSA). His/Her overall responsibility will be to coordinate and ensure provision
of the project deliverables, including project reporting.

Generally, the incumbent is responsible for all day to day decisions related to I-Checkit, designing and
refining the business module in order to develop further and ensure I-Checkit’s marketability and will
be the budget manager.

All strategic decisions with regard to it will be taken by the Director in charge, after consultation with
the project manager.

Within the Organization (not including the direct supervisor and the subordinates), the Coordinator
will work with all components of the General Secretariat (Administration and Budget, Forensics and
Police Database Management, Information Systems, Office of Legal Affairs, etc.).

Outside the Organization, with law enforcement entities and ministerial representatives in member
countries, as well as representatives of private sector entities, and other international organizations

that have a stake in I-Checkit Programme and international efforts in the domain of Border
Management.
To summarize :
 Management (planning, implementation, delivery, event coordination);
 Staff and Budget coordination and Monitoring;
 Designing and refining the business module in order to develop further and ensure I-Checkit’s
marketability;
 INTERPOL’s Representation, relations to Stakeholders and to other International
Organizations.

1 PRIMARY DUTIES

Mission 1: The incumbent, in close coordination with the Director in charge of


Operational Support & Analysis Directorate, has overall responsibility for
designing and implementing the delivery including:
 Planning of events and monitoring of budget;
 Coordinating and taking the lead in carrying out assessments of training needs of law enforcement
entities in countries impacted by the I-Checkit Programme, focusing on enhancing operational skills
necessary for a successful deployment of the I-Checkit Programme
 Liaising with INTERPOL member countries and components of the INTERPOL General Secretariat to
secure the required expertise to deliver the deliverables components as set out in the management
plan.
 Organizing and coordinating all related events (both internal and external) in coordination with the
host countries and concerned unites at the General Secretariat, as well as other international
organizations and regional structures that are providing technical assistance and training to the
recipient countries.
 Designing and refining the business module in order to develop further and ensure I-Checkit’s
marketability.

Mission 2: The incumbent is responsible for I-Checkit reporting both internally


and externally
 Overall responsibility for compliance with internal and external reporting requirements and
regulations.
 The incumbent may be required to provide internal briefings to INTERPOL Management,
presentations at INTERPOL conferences and may be called upon by the Organization’s governance
bodies, including the Executive Committee and the General Assembly, if so required by Senior
Management.

Mission 3: The incumbent will supervise the I-Checkit staff, including subject
matter experts that are temporarily assigned to the programme.
 Providing guidance as required to staff members reporting to the Coordinator I-Checkit;
 Monitoring the quality and timeliness of work and deliverables assigned to staff and take corrective
measures if and when required;
 Conduct formal performance appraisals of staff, as required and defined by INTERPOL’s staff rules.

Mission 4: The incumbent is responsible for dealing with external stakeholders.


 The incumbent will regularly meet with the main stakeholders and provide progress reports;
 The incumbent will be required to work closely with law enforcement agencies and other
stakeholders in recipient countries;
 The incumbent will be required to work with other International Organizations in the framework
of the programme objectives.

2 REQUIREMENTS
Only professional experience for which candidates can provide official proof of employment will be
considered. Candidates are informed that prior to interviews/test they will be asked to provide copies
of such official documents.

All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements.

2.1 Training/Education required

 Three-to-four years’ education at a University or other specialized higher education


establishment (preferably in public or business administration, international relations, law or a
related field; or equivalent professional experience);
 Additional relevant qualifications will be considered an asset.

2.2 Experience required

The incumbent should have a proven track record of at least five (5) years of professional experience
in managing or supervising projects, preferably in the law enforcement or security domains. Specific
experience in Border Management technology would be considered an asset.

 A background in criminal justice or previous experience in an International Organization is highly


desirable;
 Understanding of Data protection rules would be considered an asset;
 Strong oral and written communication skills required, as the incumbent may often be required
to speak in public, or address senior audiences;
 Work experience in posts requiring strong inter-personal and communications skills, tact,
diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality.

2.3 Languages

 Fluency in English (written and oral) is required.


 Proficiency in additional official working languages of the Organization (Arabic, French or
Spanish) would be an additional asset.

2.4 Specific skills required

 Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required


 Familiarity with technology will be considered as a strong asset
 Experience in using Project Management applications / tools is an advantage
 Proven ability to advise and influence others so as to achieve the project objectives;

 Proven ability to plan and organize projects with in-depth understanding of the strategic
direction, whilst maximising the use of available resources;
 Proven analytical, problem solving and conceptual ability; capable of producing clear and
comprehensive reports, of identifying and addressing policy issues and presenting analytical
findings and possible solutions; Ability to maintain objectivity and apply logical reasoning;;
 Proven ability and efficiency in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving
results;
 Proven ability to coach , monitor, motivate and develop staff, encouraging good performance;
Proven ability to quality review the work of other team members;
 Ability to work in a multicultural environment; demonstrating good social skills and listening
skills.

3 WORKING CONDITIONS

 Remuneration for appointment on contract: The starting salary for GRADE 4 is EUR 4435 per month
for a step 1.
 The successful candidate may be offered appointment on a higher step depending upon

 The incumbent may occasionally be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload
and to go on missions.
