Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Mission reaches Milestone
And Receives a Grant from the
Ottawa County Community
Foundation
In early July of 2015, the first beds were delivered from
the newly reinstated Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
Mission project. Since then we (delivery teams made up
of members of Firelands Presbyterian Church, and St.
John Lutheran Church, with the help of Portage Resale
Center) have taken 201 beds and bedding into Ottawa
County homes for children ages 2-17. Over 200 beds in
3 years!
The children who receive a bed have been identified to
us by United Way, who receive word of this need from
local family service agencies. This mission project is

Preschool News
It is hard to believe the first month of summer as already come and gone. We have been busy
having fun and learning too! Our themes this month were Bugs, Dads, Transportation and
Summer Fun!
The dramatic play area was transformed into a Bug Observation Station. The kids were able to
collect "bugs" and study them, learn about their life cycles, and sort them.
For Father's Day we hosted Donuts with Dads. Thank you to those who attended.
During Transportation week we talked about what transposition is and the different types of
transportation.
We set up an Ice Cream Store in the dramatic play area during summer fun week. The kids took
turns ordering and preparing different sweet treats and collecting money.
The kids (and teachers) love having Mrs.Winke for Storytime in the pavilion every Monday. Each
week there is a different theme with stories, songs and crafts. One day the theme was Pigs and
she brought along a real live Pig named Oliver!
We have also been busy journaling in the mornings. Once a week the kids pick something to write or draw about. We have been
spending lots of time playing and learning outside as well. Whether we are playing in the pools and sprinklers or playing Name
Hopscotch we are staying busy and having FUN!
