A note from the Church Council

Peace Lutheran Church council has set up a building fund that will be used for several im-
provements/repairs that are in immediate need for the church. The fund has been estab-
lished with a donation from the Mens' breakfast group. WELCA has indicated that they
would also contribute to the fund. What we are asking is that our members would con-
sider contributing to the fund as well. This fundraising effort will hopefully allow us to
make these necessary improvements/repairs to the building and grounds. The parking lot
is in need of sealcoating in order to preserve the asphalt that is in pretty good shape
yet. We also are going to have the roof repaired by re-sealing and re-screwing the steel to
the structure. After many years, some of the screws have come loose and allowed water
to seep under the gaskets and leak into the building. The gutter and downspouts also are
in need of repair as they are plugged and not working correctly, dumping much of the wa-
ter from the main structure onto the kitchen/entry roof. On the energy conservation side of
things, we will be replacing all the lighting in the building with new efficient T8 type floures-
cent lights. We will be getting a rebate from Ottertail Power that will pay for more than half
of the project. We should realize enough energy savings over the next three years to re-
cover the balance of the project cost. The energy rebate is going away soon, so we are
moving forward with these projects yet this year. The finances of the church are in pretty
good shape at this point, but we cannot afford to fund the cost of these repairs out of our
general fund. We are asking that you consider giving any additional amount that you may
have to the building fund to help offset the cost of these projects, and future maintenance
of the church and grounds. Thank you for your consideration of this fundraising ef-
fort. Peace Lutheran Church council.
