B. Circuit diagram theory & procedure: As per Lab manual
C. Experiment observations:
Time Response Graph was observed on CRO
D. Verification by calculation/formulas:
For the given set of L = 750 mH, C = 0.047 µF & assume ζ = 0.4 (under damped case)
1
Undamped natural freq ωn = = 5.32 Krad/sec
√ LC
Resistance = 2 ζ

Square wave input is given to the above RLC circuit
C
L
= 3.195KΩ

The response was observed in the CRO.

From the graph:
Delay time = 0.25 ms
Rise time = 0.6 ms
Peak time = 1.0 ms
Settling time = 3.6 ms
% peak over shoot = 25%
The appearance of the graph clearly indicates that the experimental set up was
working properly.
Hence the experiment is verified and the lab equipment is giving required results.

B. Circuit diagram theory & procedure: As per Lab manual
C. Experiment observations:
Root Locus & Bode plot Graphs as traced from the PC Monitor
D. Verification by calculation/formulas:
The Bode Plot was plotted for
250
G(s) H (s)=
s( s+1 )(s+10)
The sinusoidal TF is
=
G( jω ) 25
jω(1+ jω)(1+0.1 jω)
Magnitude plot
The characteristics of different factors of TF are tabulated below:
Factor Corner freq. Magnitude characteristic
25 -- St. line of const. slope -20
j dB/dec passing through
20log25 = 28 dBs at ω = 1
1 ω1 = 1 St. line of 0 dB for ω < ω1 & a
(1  j ) st. line of -20 dB/dec for ω>ω1
1 ω2 = 10 St. line of 0 dB for ω < ω2 & a
(1  0.1 j ) st. line of -20 dB/dec for ω>ω2
From the above the log magnitude plot can be drawn. The exact magnitude
plot is obtained by applying corrections for each factor i.e., -3dB at corner freq &
-1 dB at one octave below & above corner freq for a simple pole.
Phase angle plot

Now the phase angle Φ = = -90 – tan-1ω – tan-10.1ω

∠G( jω)
The values of ‘Φ’ for different frequencies are calculated using the above
relation and shown below
Frequency
‘ω’ 0.1 1 2 5 10 20 100
rad/sec
Phase -96.28 -140.71 -164.75 -195.25 -219.29 -240.58 -263.72
angle ‘Φ’
The plots are shown in figure.

From the plots the log mag. at ωpc = 7.1 dB

GM =

−|G( jω)|ω=ω
pc

= -7.1 dB

Also from the plots at ‘ωgc’ = -193.2

∠G( jω)
PM = + 180

∠G( jω)|ω=ωgc
= -193.2 + 180
= -13.2 o
Since both GM & PM are negative the given system is UNSTABLE.
BY USING MATLAB THE SAME RESULT WAS OBTAINED. THAT IS THE
SYSTEM WAS FOUND TO BE UNSTABLE
Hence the experiment is verified and the lab equipment is giving required results.
